I have been practicing on the simulator and can now hover tail in, nose in, nose right and nose left. I have also repaired my Eco8 which I was flying this afternoon. The flight was not so good because the tail kept getting blown around in the soft wind and was very frustrating. At one time the helicopter spun around on its own but I kept it from crashing! I finally got the gain on the gyro right. But the helicopter still will rotate when I increase or decrease the throttle. I want to get a heading hold gyro soon. I was flying without the training gear on!!!

Congratulations, sounds like you had a great day!

About the gyro. A HH gyro will help keep the tail in place, especially when hovering cross-wind (otherwise the tail will tend to weather-vane and the nose tends to turn into the wind). However, with a rate gyro you should be able to reduce the tendancy for the nose to move with changes in collective by setting up some revo mix (that's mixing from collective to tail). Adjust the revo mix so that when you slowly increase the collective, the tail holds fixed.
