When I first installed my main brushless motor I disabled that (bec) wire since the stock receiver and servo's received power thru the 3n1. This is according to the blade manual. So I will restore that wire and disconnect the middle wire (bec) for the tail esc. Correct?

Whichever - As long as the components are getting power from one but not both - Sometimes things behave oddly when power is routed from more than one direction so it's best to disable all but one - I think it only matters which when using the 3-in-1 units (bec from a separate esc confuses the 3-in-1s)

save these pics youll see 2 wires vs normal three one is for full seperates and one is for tail only.

Thanks its working working for me

Thank you for this thread. My tail is finally happy and solidish. I wrapped a zip tie around the motor as the setup pushes against the screws with only a thread or two holding them in place and against the back of the motor which has a habit of popping out. When I turned the tail in the other direction, prop on the left, to push air over the motor, the prop would spin itself free... great thread and thanks for the ideas.

A few questions. They may seems dumb, but I wanted to see if I was doing it wrong...

1) how do you mount the prop on the brushless tail motor?
I used an adjustable slip joint wrench like this:
http://www.amazon.com/Knipex-10-250...86974917&sr=1-2
I then put on plastic in between the teeth of the wrench so as to not harm the motor or the plastic prop, and then I squeezed it on there.

2) how do you put the pinion on the Main park 470 brushless motor?
I used a hammer and put the brushless motor on some hard wood to get the pinion started, then I used the adjustable slip joint wrench again to squeeze it on there.

3) also I was having a heck of a time sliding the 3 wires through the boom. I used some servo wire, and split them up like every one said, and then I fed a single wire all the way through the boom. Then I soldered all of my 3 servo wires to that one wire. Then it was easy, I just pulled then all the way through the Tail boom.

I have a dumb question myself. What is the right way to apply the tape that comes with the light hornet paddles. Does it cover the top and bottom of the paddles?

1) I move the wires out of the way so I can place my thumb squarely on the end bell of the motor and let the heli dangle while I place the prop on a flat open edge of a desk/table and press the motor shaft into the prop

2) I'm using a Harbor Freight drill press vice to press on motor pinions

3) I'm using the new lightweight E-flite servo extension wire which just fits without having to cut and solder it

I posted how I thread it through on the previous page
http://www.runryder.com/helicopter/p2849675/

Whatsthat
Before peeling it you fold it in half to make a guide crease in it then peel it and set the crease on the leading edge of the paddles and press each side on working toward the trailing edge then trim off the excess with a hobby knife -
I use clear packaging tape myself but it's much harder to get strait without being able to crease it first

hey micro thats not a pinion press its a main shaft and spindle straightener if it has the groove.

I dont know where to put one of my sevor wires and my GY401 sensor wire.

Im using the AR7000 right now (because my AR6100 has just been sent in to fix the un-commanded elevator problem)

All right, so here is a matching game
I have these ports on my AR7000:
Aux2
Aux1
Gear
Rudd
Elev
Aile
Thro

And I have these wires left over:
Front right servo
Rear Right servo
Rear Left Servo
GY401 positive negative wire (3 wires)
GY401 sensor wire (1 wire)
Main motors Thundebird ESC wire

Also did you guys cut the futaba polarity guid off the GY401 to get it to plug into the RX, or can you get it on the AR6100 with out cutting it?

Here's how I have mine

THRO = Main ESC
AILE = Left Rear Servo
ELEV = Front Right Servo
RUDD = Gyro 3-wire
GEAR = Gyro 1-wire (assigned gear=gear in system menu)
AUX1 = Right Rear Servo

You can cut the "Futabs" off or notch your AR7000 to accomodate - I think it'll plug into the AR61000 without modding as the plastic "case" is flexible

A bit of a newbie question:

Has anyone tried the BL tail with the stock CP Pro rate gyro?

To use the built-in 3-in-1 rate gyro with a brushless tail you'd need something like a Brush2Less to convert the 3-in-1 tail output back into a servo signal to add a brushless ESC to drive a brushless motor

Thanks Micro-Maniac!

And if I use a E-Sky HH gyro do I need anithing else or just connect directly the BL Speed control to it?

With a HH gyro and 2 ESCs (main & tail) you can bypass the 3-in-1 altogether for a simpler better working setup
(if you leave the gyro in HH mode it won't need any mixing)

RX Throttle > Main ESC > Main Motor
RX Rudder > HH Gyro > BL Tail ESC > BL Tail Motor
Battery > Power Y-Harness > Main & Tail ESCs

If you use the 3-in-1 for the main rotor with HH gyro and BL tail you'll have to partially bypass the 3-in-1 anyways plus Y-harness the power and rudder channel to the 3-in-1 and tail ESC for the 3-in-1 to operate the main rotor

RX Throttle > 3-in-1 Throttle > Main Motor
RX Rudder > Servo Y-Harness > 3-in-1 Rudder & HH Gyro > BL Tail ESC > BL Tail Motor
Battery > Power Y-harness > 3-in-1 & BL Tail ESC

If you go HH and BL main & tail you'll have no use for the 3-in-1 at all

IMO - if you are going BL tail, go BL main (first)...

I agree, its a much less expensive upgrade. brushless tails require the additional hh gyro to work properly and the cheaper the elements you get, the harder it is to get them working respectably. A brushless main is relatively half as expensive as a good bl tail and the gains are emediate with little trouble or challenge in setup.

That's the one I'm using...

GWS Heat Sink For IPS Motors, EDF-40, and EDF-50 (GW/EHS-12)

Same source as Micro - very happy.
