You can read some stuff on Hirobo's website. They have some pictures too. We will arrive on Wednesday night. Then we will have Thursday to Saturday to watch. Hopefully it will be nice weather...it is horrible in Sweden right now...the whole summer rained and blew away.

Man, Curtis is using all kinds of new stuff this year. First a flybarless setup at 3DM and now an electric Vibe with a fuse.

I imagine the switch to electric is two fold. One, the battery technology is finally to the point where good power can be achieved along with enough flight time to get through an entire schedule. Second, isn't a large part of FAI presentation? Imagine how nicely an electric model presents......no smoke and no noise.

Nope. I sure hope not. Why should one suffer when not having a fuselage? Many good pilots don't even use a fuselage. There is no point system for that. That belongs in F4C (Scale airplanes).

By presentation, I wasn't referring to the fuse. I was referring to the fact that with less smoke it's easier for the judges to see what the heli is doing during hovering maneuvers.

Curtis must feel the fuse help carry out the aerobatics portion better.

Ok. Sorry. The smoke does not cause suchs problems more than it can be annoying for the judges if it hits their faces. Many pilots use fuel that smokes less than before. Normally there's always wind so the smoke will dissapear quickly.

what I want to know is where are the daily blogs for this event. There must be someone on the US team or the British team that's doing this?

We have been practicing for 3 days now and things are going well for Curtis, Wayne and myself. Today we did our practice rounds and it was windy and it appears the whole event will be. We have been practicing at a small airport about 30 miles from the main site. Tomorrow the first round starts so the updates will be more interesting.

To eliminate some misconceptions....Curtis's machine is not quieter than a glow model. Dave Youngblood has already run sound checks of all of our machines and Curtis's machine is actually louder in hover. They have been working on different things to try to get it quieter so it passes the sound checks. It is impressive in aerobatics but Curtis is flying with his same style as usual. He can decide how big to make the maneuvers because the power is very good. Right now his machine will give him 8.5 minutes of flight time. Time will tell if that is any issue. The thing that looks good is the aerobatics. Curtis can fly.

Hi Harold

Stop following this style of flying is boring. Come to the 3d side is where the fun is. Just kidding.

I'm really impressed with Steve Roberts (GB), hope he makes the fly offs. Looks like he's had a crash during practice though.

Dave should have been in the fly offs as well, I was hoping he would make it too. I suppose the strange scores in the preliminary rounds were due to the funny weather you were having.
