If someone has bad experiences with Filipinos, they'll dislike me, they'll distrust me, and they'll despise me. Same goes with RC helicopters. If someone has a bad experience with an irresponsible heli pilot, the next time they see a heli pilot flying, they'll freak! Hell, the pilot could be Jason Krause for all I care, but do you think the average person will know the difference between a world-class RC heli pilot versus a novice?
We HAVE TO keep each other in check! I don't care what you think or what you say, that's just the way it HAS TO BE. Otherwise, if a whole bunch of irresponsible heli pilots hit the streets, people are gonna be calling the cops on us every time an RC heli is seen anywhere... Can you imagine flying all alone in a schoolyard with no one around, and one jogger 200 meters away sees you buzzing around, so they call the cops on you? If we don't keep each other accountable and don't keep each other in check, this hobby is going to DIE. Quick.
FAA is already putting pressure into aerial photography rigs, and the only difference with those things and an 'average' RC heli is the fact that it has a camera attached to it. All in all, THOSE rigs are much LESS dangerous... You don't even want to know what kinda BS the FAA is starting to demand from aerial photography pilots... Let's just say that if the FAA gets their way, it'll cost THOUSANDS just to be able to fly legally. Even a TREX 450 WITH A SMALL DIGITAL CAMERA WILL FALL UNDER THIS RULING. So dude, do us all a favor and wake up... If you don't see the FAA getting involved in aerial photography as anything to worry over, you better wake up. Last thing we need is the FAA saying, "you know what, screw it... to fly ANY RADIO CONTROLLED HELICOPTER, YOU MUST ABIDE BY THESE RULES"... |
