The DynaX is a nice machine and it will last for a long time with very little maintenance. The Robbe gear is second to none in my opinion.

Should your Dyna-X be in a decent shape... that's an excellent investment (IMHO)

Sure, there are other decent machines on the market but you defenitely didn't buy a bad one... actually you simply bought one of the best
(getting emotional here )

I saw this Dyna fly, its smooth but at tick over there's a funny ticking/knocking sound coming from the muffler. The inner baffle may be loose. My other suggestion is that the MPII muffler (connected to a C-spec engine) is amplifying the engine vibrations and due to the rigid method of mounting the fuel tank, is inducing vibrations into it. I suggested trying a different muffler like an Hatori 938 which uses a more flexible mounting method. I have this muffler on my Dyna and have no fuel foaming problems.

Anyone care to opine on my thinking?

I tested a 938 on it in the garden (limited space) but all "apears to now be OK. Have orderd an SB 18 for it as it has a longer stub than the 938 (do not wish to melt the fuel tank)
Comment to dogg5306, i suspect that the SZ is a slightly smoother engine to begin with???

I ran a big bored, clined Cspec with MP2 at 1900 and no foaming sounds like something isn't running smooth so I would check the engine first, unless you know there is an issue with the pipe.

The inside of the frames should have been sanded and the tank put in with silicone seal IMO and perhaps this hasn't been done? could make a difference

I Have swopped the MP2 for an MP5 on my Vibe and it is smoother and more powerful

It is said from the Cspec that it vibrates less than the SZ (if that's what you mean by being smooth) but the SZ is more powerful... should you decide to couple it with a Cline Reg and a Cline dual glow viperhead and you simply got the best (IMHO)... power, smoothness (from idle to full power), better sound, better cooling, better reliability, etc..., etc...

(That's why I've got one!!!)

Well guys
Have tried a SB18 on the Cspec still foaming
Fitted a "new"sz and the SB18 still foaming
Runout checked 0.0005

Started looking elsewhere???
Top bearing thet holds the top of the clutch cone apears to be a little "lumpy" so replacing that and the large lower one. See if that dose the trick

Could be the bearing, I'd say its definately a problem with the parts rotating at engine speed.

Foamy

did you fix it?

I found the Dyna can be a little sensitive to engine and clutch alignment... Jiggle the engine around in the mounts a bit .. you can also do this while it's running at idle to get the engine to settle perfectly with the clutch..

Cheers

Hi Andy
Fitted a new top bearing on the cone & took it for a test today.
Started the engine and!!!!! clutch draging.
Cursed, then loosend of the engine mounts & droped the engine a fraction, then took your advice and started the engine with mounts loose and niped them up whilst on tickover. stoped the engine and locktighted one by one. No clutch Drag
TEST 2 up to 1800 no foam at 1900 just a little but i will acept this and keep an eye on it, the last bit may go as the engine settles in and i lean it of a bit.
Thanks Ian

good stuff glad it helped..

U may find leaning might make it worse if you're not careful, but it can be a funny thing, sometimes not (mind you I'm running YS91)... what gear ratio are you running? 15th pinion?

Sometimes I found that the engine will need re-alignment after a few sessions of really hard 3D workout!

Happy landings!

Parts

Geekwave
we supplied lately parts of Champion, and other helis which are 15 years ago.

EU law make sure that you have avaliability during 8 years of spare parts, and you still have 15 years of most parts in stock, i would say its a great support..

the world "Dying" is more for USA guys, they feel without official importer the bad taste of the situation, but we have many pilots over the world, and no one had to wait( except the shiping time) for parts.
