Cassini Senior Heliman Location: Enterprise, AL
| Here are three pictures of the damage to two UH-60's after a midair. Talk about a close call. From the pictures
you can see that one has tail rotor damage and the other has fuselage damage located right behind the Co-Pilots
chinbubble (Left side where the instructor pilot was sitting). This happened at night and I forget if they were
under night vision goggles or not. Both aircraft had an instructor pilot and a student pilot.
The tail rotor went up through the chinbubble into the fuselage and glanced of the tail rotor pedals bellcrank.
Forget about the closeness distance wise, image how close this was to destroying both aircraft timewise in
reactions as soon as it happened... milliseconds in response time do make a difference!
No one aboard either aircraft were hurt and both Blackhawk heli's landed safely. |
