ah you little lucky sh*t! At least you get to build a heli that came right to your doorstep! I had to wait to acquire all kinds of parts to build my own heli. Call me up with you're ready for your maiden flight. I wanna see whats the fuss about this 50 sized aurora like heli.

COPY CAT....LOL

Can't wait for you to get yours built. From what you told me earlier, you will have it built tonight ...

I have made many changes to my Knight 3D and Tony will make similar changes. I was able to drop 1/4 lb. so far and I'm not done. I will post pics of the modifications in a couple of days, once I get the rest of the parts.

Oh yea. I'm Finally done putting it together and installing the electronics. The hardest part of the whole build was trying the fit the crank case support block over the front of the crank. Took me a while trying to fit it in and I finally used a heat gun to soften up the rubber allowing me to slide the block right over the crank.

I started at 4pm when I got it and stopped at 5pm to go to my evening class. Went over to Gary's house afterward and when I got home I didn't start rebuilding till 9. Now it's 3 in the morning and now I'm done. So tired......Off to bed.
pics will be posted tomorrow. I notice that a fee things were changed with the second batch of Knight 3D

Paddles are now one solid peice. No slots so you don't have to put that tape to cover the holes.

Tom
I might go flying on Friday if the weather is good.

Paul
Sure I'll let you fly it. I want to see you do some hardcore 3D man! Just remember to bring it back in one peice please Lol

Gary
Told ya I'll have it done by tonight. If I wouldn't have stopped by your house I woulda been done a long time ago. Hey some of those ideas were mines too Lol

hey who turn out the lights...................

You made a great choice. Great heli for the money. You get a great high performance that won't eat up you pockets.

I ended up pulling out all the electrics this morning. Skipped class since I was so tired Lol I'm a bad boy! I didn't like how the airtronic servo wires on the top left was rubbing the frame. If I don't use a spacer it fits fine but the links aren't parrel to the frame. I want it to look right. Lol So I will have to sand down the edge where the servo wires rub the frame.
Also my fromeco 4800mah pack doesnt fit up on top the front tray. It hits the canopy when the canopy is mounted. Looks like I will need to figure out where I want to mount it. Wow I can't believe I missed all that last night. Lol
Now I guess since I aleady pulled out all the electronics I will do the throttle servo mod and move it to you know where.(it's a secret so we can't tell you guys)

Looks like I won't maiden her till Sat.

Tony,

Other than the paddles, what else did they change from the 1st batch?

Just Curious.

The fan now comes pre drilled for the magnets.

Clunk line in the fuel tanks is different from the first batch. The first batch was a blue colored thin line that was not flexible. The one that came with mines is a lighter soft blue color and kinda resembles the crappy clunk line that came with the TT helis. But it's not the crappy material. The clunk line in the k3D is thicker and more flexible. I think it should last a long time with 30% fuel. The lines were also held on with small zip ties to prevent the clunk from sliding off. Nice feature there

I'm pretty sure a few other things have been touched up on too, but nothing major.

I'm pretty much done now. Just touching up on the wires trying to make them look neat. Reset my gov and setup my new Gyro and it will be flying soon.

Test flight coming tomorrow!

pics and vid will also come soon... Waiting for a few new upgrades/ parts to arrive.
I haven't even flown it yet and I already have upgrades for it Lol

I setup on my new Knight 3D:

Engine: OS Hyper 50 with pump setup
Pipe : MP2
Servo : (3)Airtronics 94758's for the cylics
: Hitec HS 65hb for throttle
Gyro : Logitec 6100/ with tail servo combo
Blades: Radix 600mm mains and 95mm tail
Governor: TJ PRO
:Headspeed set at 2000rpm's
Battery: Fromeco 4800mah with Arizona Dual Reg (4.9v to the gyro and 5.4v to the cyclics/ throttle servo)

Upgrades: Kasama Tail Grips
: New style align trex 600 LG (not installed yet in the pics
: QUK tail horizontal/tail support mount

I got a few test flights in yesterday and I'm loving how this baby flies so awesome! It's really smooth and has plenty on power. Cyclics were really crips too But I still miss the way my ZeroG Raptor with Kasama head flew.

Notice that I'm not using a header tanks setup I'm using a OS bubbleless clunk and so far it seemed to work pretty darn good. It is suppose to be just like a fuel magnet but doesn't fail when it is exposed to the hot exhaust gasses like the foam pieces do.

During my build I notice that the one spacer on the right side frame below the main tank is the bracket mount for the header tank. From the pics I have seem some mount their header tank somewhere else. (Just a tip you just need to flip the header tank bracket over and it will work just perfect, You may also need to slide the HD tank out and flip it so that the nipples face towards the front to the engine). I know I may sound confusing :d I should have taken some pics of that while I was at it.

I did the throttle servo mod and used a micro hitec hs65hb servo. I placed it under the front tray with double sided tape servo tape. (some say heat and oil with cause the tape to peel and not stick) I dunno but I put 3 flight on this bad boy already and the servo doesn't even get warm. I think it all comes out how you prep the area where you want the tape to stick. It has to be as clean as possible. I sanded the servo case and front tray to help give the tape extra bite. "D Oil and fuel shouldn't be a problem since fuel should never get in that area unless you have a leak in your setup. Vibration might damage the micro servo ask? In my opinion the hs65 has karbonite gears so their pretty tough. I used these on my trex and hold up really well in a crash so vibrations don't concern me. I know a few other who use the micro servo as a throttle servo on their 50/90's and haven't had a problem. Only time till tell I guess.I'm a risk taker and not afriad to think outside the box
