CLASSIFIEDS - Feedback - Scams > NA Beware Deadbeat trader LOWFLYER101

This guy (lowflyer101) is a crook, a deadbeat trader. Stay away!

I bought a Dragonus II Pro helicopter from him with the understanding that it only needed 2 parts to be air worthy- a main gear and a main shaft. And a couple more parts to return it to complete as-new condition- a canopy, 1 upper CF frame side and 1 lower CF frame side. There were also extra parts to come with it and a pair of CF main blades (CF blades do come with the original kit).

What I received was far from needing just these parts. The list of parts needed to make this helicopter whole exceeds the price of buying a new model when added with what I paid him. Parts to replace those missing or damaged total more than $130. And many of the “extra” parts are needed to replace broken or bent parts on the heli. He even bent the battery tray (instead of removing it) so the heli would fit in the undersized shipping box. Oh, and I guess he did not want to waste resources as there was only a couple pieces of cardboard and an envelope as packaging.

Upon informing him of my findings he committed to sending the parts he forgot to include and replacing the broken or missing parts, but in the nearly 6+ weeks since I received the heli I have not received all the parts needed to make the heli complete as described. He responded quickly to my initial PM, which gave me hope, but since then he has been slow to respond or has not responded at all. More recently he has said he considers the deal done.

Since my first PM telling him of my findings I have given him the option of returning my money and I would return everything he has sent at my expense. He chose the direction of sending parts. He has refused to stand behind this transaction either by refunding my money or providing the necessary parts.

The heli he sent me is missing many nuts, bolts, and links, frame spacers, CF vert fin, CF paddles, CF tail blades, 1 side of upper and lower CF frames. The swash will not rotate freely, CF boom is cracked, plastic mixing links broken, main belt pulley is bad, one way sleeve cracked, balls worn. Dragonus parts replaced with lesser quality Align parts. Aluminum parts are bent or broken, bearings are bad, anti-rotation bracket jerry-rigged, etc. I sent him a complete list with part numbers, etc.

I can understand a few worn parts like balls and ball links but this far exceeds any slight oversight. It is also far in excess of normal wear.

He did send some seemingly random parts via one of the suppliers but half of the parts were not on my list and not needed or duplicates. Total amount of needed items - $13.89. Total of unneeded parts or duplicates $9.40

He did have a set of CF top frames sent ($19.50) with this order but as it turns out that was not an extra goodwill gesture as when I finally received a couple of the many parts he needed to send me the single top frame side and the single bottom frame side were both cracked, one was in two pieces. And before he says they broke in shipping- there is CA in the areas of the breaks indicating he tried to fix them.

As I just said he did finally send SOME of the parts he originally admitted to forgetting to include with the heli (4 weeks later). The CF side frames where damaged. The booms supports were included as were the mixing links and some pinions.

But all the other parts are still missing and the damaged parts are not replaced. And don't forget the extra parts that aren't extras as most are needed to replace damaged parts on the heli.

Again, BUYER BEWARE with this deadbeat trader!

In his defense. There are NO CF blades (tail, paddles, main) for the Dragonus as there was a CF shortage on them. I got the Pro since it first came out from RC-tek and got only the main blades from him. Nothing else was available and is still not. I did manage to find CF paddles from RC-expert but my tail blades are on back order. Using Hyperions right now though.

This is what I just posted in Lowflyer101's forsale ad. I did not realize there was a post here.

>>Interesting story Jean.

You continue to gloss over details and twist the facts.

Thanks for confirming that 1.) you sent me a misrepresented helicopter; 2.) I have been waiting a long, long time for the parts you promised to send me. And still waiting... The heli has been sitting in the box you sent it in for a long, long time waiting for the parts; 3.) You had Hoverhobbies send some parts I did not need and extra parts I did not need, just as I stated. For example, who needs 2 CCPM rod sets and 2 rod sets when they are just trying to get enough parts to put a heli in the air? I just wished you ordered parts I really needed, from the list I sent you.

Bottom line you sent me a misrepresented helicopter. I initially asked you to replace damaged parts and send the missing parts -or- refund money and I would return the helicopter. Upon further inspection and finding even more damage, I said I did not want replacement parts I just wanted my money back. This was before you ordered any parts in response to my complaint. You committed to replacing the parts. I just wanted to return the helicopter and get my money back.

The first order of parts you reference had only one part for this helicopter- (R01CP003 Ball Link end B- $1.88). The rest were for another helicopter you have? This order was placed before I even received the helicopter. The other parts on this order were:
2- R01CP122 CNC Feathering Shaft- 2 x $5.95
1- R02TP022 CNC Rotor Head Upgrade Kit $79.95

I certainly never received the complete new rotor head assembly or feathering shafts. And I did not receive the "Ball link end B" parts until about a month after I received the heli (see below).

The "second" order of parts, which you reference here was only ordered after I posted in the OCHC thread trying to get some help from your flying mates to resolve this issue because you weren't responding to communication from me. This was the first package of parts I received (more than 2 weeks after receiving the helicopter).

Yes, I did open a dispute on Paypal after I had exhausted all other avenues to settle this. By this time you had stopped responding to PMs and e-mails. I received a package containing only a couple of the many parts you were to send me after I filed this dispute. Included in this package was the (broken) frame parts, the "Ball Link end B" mentioned above, boom supports, and some pinions. None of the other missing parts were there. According to the postmark on the package it was sent the day before I file the dispute (Feb 20th). Which by the way was only about a month after I received the heli. So this only shows how long I had to wait to get parts you committed to send.

Unfortunately Paypal's claim process only covers packages that are not received, not the fact that the item received is junk. After not getting a response to my Dispute communication for 5 days I tried to escalate the process to a claim but their automated system kicked it out for the reason just stated. If anyone knows of a way around this, let me know.

Not sure what you are talking about shutting me down???

Also, I want to make this clear... I have never threatened you in anyway.

Kindly remove my personal information from your post. I have not posted this type of personal information of yours.

Bottom line... its up to your potential purchaser to decide his interpretation of what presented here and elsewhere. I am giving a heads up based on my transaction with you...<<

Adam, What specifically would you like to see? I have a hard time following Lowflyer's post. Does my most recent post respond to any of your questions?

Mark, I didn't realize I was asking RR to mediate. I posted negative feedback based on my unsatisfactory transaction with Lowflyer101. I only posted this after repeated attempts to resolve this issue and after Lowflyer101 decided he was done with this transaction.

I have to say... I thought my offer to return the helicopter at my expense was very reasonable. And remember I offered this before any additional parts were ordered or sent.

I did not think it reasonable that he should send me $130 worth of parts to build this helicopter back up to what he presented it as.

If I sold a helicopter and the purchaser felt as deceived and cheated as I feel I would have immediately offered a refund and even paid for return shipping.

Also, I just noticed another part Lowflyer101 listed, purchased and I received. It was included in the total for parts I did not need:

2 x R01P112/R01CP112 M2x7 Screws(10pcs) (R01P112/R01C) = $3.76

This is another case of ordering parts that were not on my list, and he ordered 2 packages. If you are going to order parts for someone why wouldn't you order parts the person needed. And why order multiples?

Again Lowflyer101, you are not reading what I am writing and confusing the details. Fortunately for me while doing this you are confirming what I am saying.

My first post on the OCHC thread was February 8th:
http://runryder.com/helicopter/t264687p82/?p=2537303#RR

Your order with HoverHobbies for these parts was on February 8th as your information states. I did not dispute this with you.

If I received the helicopter on the 23rd of January why did you wait so long to order the parts?

My intitial request for the refund of my money was in my first PM after receiving the helicopter:
Quote
JoeR wrote on 01-23-2007 07:38 PM:
Jean,

I received the heli today.

I have to say I am extremely disappointed in what I received.

Here is a list after a brief look at it:

- To start the packaging was poor as there was no padding.
- Paddles are not CF
- Tail blades are not CF (they are Align)
- No Vertical Fin (should be CF)
- No swash to servo links and balls (comes with the kit)
- No servo screws and nuts (comes with the kit)
- No motor pinions (comes with the kit)
- Ball links that are on the head are old/original Align not DragonusII/RCer
- Main Belt drive pulley screw hole is enlarged and elongated
- No main blade bolts/nuts (come with the kit)
- No nuts on the tail blade bolts and the bolts are too long.
- Numerous screw and nuts missing
- Collar (frame spacer) in front of servo mounts is missing. Another is missing in front of the motor mount on the lower frame.
- Anti-rotation bracket is broken and a cobbled up CF piece is in its place
- Bent battery mount
- Both plastic wash out linkages (purple) are broken
- T-Rex tail push rod included instead of Dragonus II/RCer. It can’t even be feed through the guide so I know you weren’t flying with it.
- Landing gear that is installed is broken at the top and has a few extra holes in it.
- Aluminum frame assembly is twisted/distorted
- Tab on the bottom aluminum frame part that attaches to the landing gear is broken off
- So some of the extra parts are not extra as they are needed to get the heli back in shape
- Boom supports are some cobbled collection of parts, not Dragonus II/RCer

All of this makes me wonder what else is not as it should be, what else haven’t I noticed yet? You presented this as a Dragonus II Pro with an aluminum frame and in need of a main gear and shaft and a canopy. You never mentioned all the substitutions for lesser quality parts, missing and damaged parts, etc

In all my years of buying and selling on RunRyder and other sites I have never been deceived in such a gross fashion as you are trying to do here.

You need to make this right or refund my money.

Joe

And your response:

Hi JoeR

sorry to hear that,, as i said in orignal sale, that it current on alum frame,, because the carbon need a 1 top and 1 side frame. when i ship the thing i forgot a few thing here... the cf vertical fins.. the 2 old carbon sideframe, pinion, i did not know till i clean out room. about the ball link head , i repalce all dragous alum ball with align' metal ball cuz it got better wear,, and the align links is easy to find... there also motor pinion,,

those other missing parts,, like balls and links , pinion, ... i will order the parts and have them ship direct to you.. the other parts that still here i will ship to you myself.

thank

As one example, here he acknowledges there is a CF vertical fin that was not sent with the heli. I still have not received a CF vertical fin.

Jean,

Thanks for your prompt reply. Please let me know what is coming and from where so I know what to expect and when to expect it. Thanks, Joe

After thinking about it I decided I should disassemble the helicopter to make sure there was not any additional damage or missing parts.

On January 30th I sent this email:
Quote
Jean,

Why are you ignoring my PMs?

This is not resolved. You committed to sending me parts but you will not confirm what you are sending me.

I am about to conclude that you are not going to follow through with your committment. Please give me an indication this is not true. You have a couple of mentions on the "good guy list" and that is one of the reasons I trusted you on this transaction.

While inspecting the heli further I have found additional problems. You have misrepresented the condition of the heli so grossly that I am requesting a refund and I will return the heli to you. I can buy a new Dragonus II Pro for less than what it will cost me to completely repair this heli.

I would appreciate a response within 24 hours.

And on February 2nd I PM'd:

Re: Dragonus II Pro purchase

Hi lowflyer101

Thanks for responding to my communication.

In my e-mail I said I found other parts that are damaged/missing and need to be replaced. I disassembled the heli and inspected every part. Below is the list of damaged and missing parts.

You will notice the swashplate is on the list. Upon inspection I found that it is very notchy and does not rotate freely, as it should. It will turn with less resistence for a number of turns, though still not like it should, and then it will bind up and be very difficult to rotate for a number of rotations before freeing up a little again. At no point does it spin as freely as a swash is required to.

Also from the picture I have concluded that you bent the battery tray so the heli would fit in the box!?! What's with that?

I added a CF boom to the list because upon inspection I noticed the front end was cracked at least ¾” back from the slot. It appears that you made an attempt to repair it so you did know it was there and did not disclose it to me. This also appears to be an Align boom and not a Dragonus boom.

I also noticed that between taking the pictures and sending the heli to me you changed out the CF main blades. In the picture some SAB blades were installed while you sent me some unidentified brand- probably of lesser quality. Where does your deception end? You need to send me the SAB blades and I will return these to you.

Its your decision. Just let me know what your intention is ASAP.

Thanks, Joe

I will acknowledge that in this post I may have jumped to conclusions about the carbon blades being SAB blades. In the pictures sent to me the blades on the heli were white with a black stripe and no additional printing. The CF blades I received were all black and never pictured in the images I received from lowflyer101. Lowflyer101 keeps bringing this up as proof that I am lying while ignoring everything else I am writing.

As far as "PAYPAL SHUT YOUR BUTTS OFF" as you say. Here is the automated message I received from PayPal within seconds of trying to escalate my dispute to a claim:

Quote
Our investigation into your claim is complete. As stated in our User
Agreement, the claims process only applies to the shipment of goods. It
does not apply to complaints about the attributes or quality of goods
received. Therefore, we are unable to reverse this transaction or issue a
refund.

Also, until a Dispute is escalated to a Claim Paypal is not involved. The communication is between the buyer and seller only. They may keep track of the communications, I don't know. I do know that I never received any communication from Lowflyer101 regarding my Dispute. That's why I tried to escalate to a claim.

adamsonyx- I wished we could have resolved our differences on this transaction. I only posted this feedback after I was out of options and had to give up. I do not want anyone else to get taken as I have by this seller.

I did have one last thought on resolution. Mark's post got me thinking of it.

I would propose a mediator to accept delivery of this heli and everything I received and make a determination as to a resolution. I would send the package at my expense.

We would have to work out a few details and find someone that would be willing to take the time to go through it. I have a person in mind that is in Lowflyer101's area. I have never met this person but have a reasonable level of confidence that he would be objective based on his contribution's here on RR and RCG.

We would have to agree on the expectations at the time of sale. I can post a record of PMs with lowflyer101 that formed my expectations.

What you say Jean?
