My beef is when a seller posts a price and then says "OBO". Then after a week of having no offers except mine, they decide that they really didn' mean "or best offer", really had a minimum price all the time but did not disclose it.

I know they have that right but if someone says OBO they should stand behind it and not back off and say it is still not enough.

Case in point, seller listed for $340 obo. I offered in PM $310 and he would not take as he said the lowest he would go was $325 even though I was the only offer in hand. So "BEST OFFER" was not what he was after. He should have so stated up front a minimum offer, IMHO.

Just my $.03

Ripped Off

Save everything for court. The absolute best way by far it to pay for an escrow person and that way you are only out for that cost expecially and I repeat especially if it is of any value at all. I think that if it can be proven that the person is involved in fraud, they should lose thier AMA card for an extended period, thus having local clubs revoking their flying
rights. I think that as much internet selling as there is that it is time for local flying clubs to get involved as much as possible to discourage fraud and show that it will not be tolerated in this sport. I think that just a bunch of comments is not enough. In the end, they should all be compiled and made available as the very first thing on the web site. There are too many people getting ripped off.

you can offer to pick up the item personally and pay for it then.
If they are hesitant to do that, then that is an indication. Not everyone wants to give out their address, so you might agree to meet close by to where they live.. If they are in another state, just tell them that you just happened to be going that way next week. If they agree to make the transaction in person, then more than likely it is legit.

I have to bring this up because i see it so many times
Some one is selling a Item and States in the for sale Add that the buyer pays for shipping and insurence.
Now I can see that the buyer pays for the cost of Shipping(we pay for shipping if we buy from on line stores) but if the seller and buyer agree on the buyer paying for insurence,,,

Dose the Seller Understand that if the Item is lost or damaged in shipping that they The seller will need to refund the amount paid or get the buyer another item
And has to file a Claim with who ever they shipped with because the the shipper is the only one that can submit a Claim..

buyer and sellers inputs would be great here..

How about Fair Trading???

Runryder has many Overseas (to the USA) members so please include us in your selling thoughts as well.

This is the 3rd Time I have immediately PM'd a seller to find they "apparrently" sold it already- clearly untrue.

It appeared that perhaps they assumed I was a bad egg???? or couldnt be bothered posting it to Australia. Even though their asking price + all postage was offered

If you absolutely wont sell OS, state it, or at least answer the PM in more than 1 blasted syllable;
"not OS" doesnt help (doesnt say if you thought Postage wouldnt be covered, etc etc )
On Ebay many innadvertantly leave the "USA only" box checked but happily send OS

I just wanted to add that it is very frustrating when you (as a interested buyer) post replies to seller's classified, that they need to respond.

I have been interested in several items here and notice that it appears that the seller will sometimes reply back to some and not others (which is very frustrating and makes you want to "vent").

When a person asks a question, you (the seller) needs to assume that maybe that particular question may is of interest to others as well and answer.

I agree there needs to be a rating system as stated in a previous reply here by "Beezer" to show when a person answers emails, replies, and etc...

There also needs to be a penalty (to the seller) for letting someone read through many replies just to find out it's been sold or as stated again previously that buy contacting the seller it's been sold!

I personally don't have time to go through a hundred or so classified posts every day just to find out the item is sold or I'm wasting my time posting replies, If it isn't for sale, don't post it! It's easier just to buy from Rick's than to go through so much aggrevation and spend so much time!

I have about come to the conclusion that it is for the most part a waste of time chasing the classifies.

Details and pictures seem to be best.

Seems alot can get lost in a translation or explanation, so the best way to prevent problems is to be pro-active, and sort all the details out in black and white prior to shipping....

I am all for pictures, like they say are worth a thousand words. Also, with pictures there is less chance of getting taken, because you can always ask for a photo with current date of newspaper, that way someone isnt trying to pawn you off on someone else's pics that they have found, as this has happened locally....

Keep in touch with buyer and seller, nothing is more frustrating than the buyer/seller who is unreachable, especially if negotiations have started, causes warning flags on the seller/buyer. If you are serious, and need time, be honest, don't lead anyone on. Most guys are good and will say, I'll give you xxxx amount of time, at which you respect that time, and advise accordingly to ensure respect and allow someone who may have a sale pending to release....don't hold persons up.

There is alot of characters out there, and I am all for the feedback on buyers and sellers, and locally here in Vancouver, we get a good idea who is serious, and who is fishing and being a waste of everyone's time. Just don't cut someone down on feedback without just cause, and be fair with your decisions and words when you do...

shipping numbers and that is all good too,

over and out, deal with you soon...

Payment Terms

Seller: Payment terms need to be stated in the Ad. I only accept PayPal Plus 3% to cover fees. or I only accept money orders.

Buyer: A post to the thread with an "I Will Take It" and once you state that you are committed to buy based on the condition and representation of the item in the ad.

I have built up a "circle of trust" with certain buyers and sellers. If someone in my "circle" has had a good experience with someone that I have not dealt with then I may go to the person in my circle for feedback. Sometimes I may miss out on a great deal and sometimes I may be saved from the person in question. Either way how do you know the person is really on the up and up unless you take a RISK Do your homework. I found that there are more honest people that I have dealt with than bad.

ok guys here it is i have a ?

It is my understanding that when some one post something for sale they want to sell it now I dont have a problem with the pm system I think its great (love it) but I think people who want to pm have more ? and or wanna negotiate the price or the terms I have personally pm people in the past about things dont matter and I sometimes feel like they wont sell me a particular item because they are selling several items and they dont want to split things up of course if they can sell everything at once great I would think but what if I just wanted something in particular and they show in their post everything individually priced and based on the post I agreed with their price and terms and if I say on the post I will take it for your asking price send me payment info shouldnt I be the one to get the item I need no negotiating I guess what im trying to say is if I go on anyones post and say I will take it and I need no negotiating to do because what the seller wants is what im willing to do and im the first person to say it on the forum I think I should get the item like a "buy it now" kinda thing your thoughts

another thing is the 3% on paypal I can see that but 3% on mo orders

please I wanna see what you all think thanks in advance

Deleting the text

I have a problem with the Seller being able to delete the description immediately after the sale. sometimes when I go back to see exactly what they said, it is gone. The first post description should be frozen with only price changes in part of the field.

misleading ads

ads that i often see.

1.) RTF heli for sale, this heli flies great has so and so upgrades. just add your reciever and transmitter.
----how can a heli fly w/o tx and rx?

2.) some advertised heli have individual upgrade price listed besides them then the seller adds up everything as a basis and comparison to his asking price (after using the heli for who knows when). we are talking about a used heli here. if i were to sell my five year old honda civic like that, what a wonderful depreciation value. i can even list the tires i've used for a year, the cost of my radio five years ago or even the "new" battery i placed last year.

cigarettes have addictive warning signs in packs, why can't heli boxes?

FEEDBACK

when leaving feedback, ad the information "from seller" or "from buyer" to the post.

It will look like this:

----------------------------------------------------------------
XXXXXXXXX

Receives positive feedback FROM BUYER regarding this post.

-----------------------------------------------------------------
It's not necessary, and of course no one does this really.

It just ads a new functionality to the classified feedback section, and makes it easier to interpret.

Someone asked me this today, so I thought I'd post this here
It's a good question.

Quote
when the person(buyer) doesn't post on the actual "sale" thread(Payment sent, Paid, MINE!,....) how do I leave feedback for that post if the person doesn't post on(or in) the sale thread(?)

Simply go to their "My classified feedback" page.
Click "Post Reply" just as you normally would with any other thread.
The title will be their user name. You cant edit this, and there is no need to type their user name again.

Simply write "Receives positive/negative/neutral feedback regarding this post.

It's good to hyperlink the word "post" to anywhere that directs you to the classified ad.

You can do that by putting in the code
EXAMPLE:
[url =http://runryder.com/helicopter/p229860/]post.[ /url] (spaces inserted in code for example. Omit spaces for the actual post.)

In case the person has no previous classified feedback.

It doesnt look like there is anyway around this one.
Have that person post something, anything in reply to the original ad. (or in case there wasnt a classified ad, MAKE ONE)
Something like "pm sent" or "item arrived today" always works and is very subtle.
That way, you can ad feedback like you normally would.

You need this post to add feedback. The first feedback post automatically created the "my classified feedback" thread.

An easy workaround: PM the seller from the original post, the content of the post / classified ad will be included in your PM to the seller as a quote. This gives you a record of the original post in your SENT PMs. You can create separate folder for Classifieds to house these.

People really need to start closing listings. When you sell something, provided the buyer has responded in your thread, there is no need to post a reply that says SOLD. This bumps a sold item to the top for no good reason.

Edit your first post in the thread and in the title put SOLD in the title, check close thread, then click close thread.

If in your ad you state "PAYPAL ONLY"

Then please do not state in your ad, "buyer pays paypal fees"
If you're not giving the buyer an alternative payment method, then don't ask him to pay for the fees.
