Compass Knight 50 > Knight 50 3D flight report

I posted a while back when I got my kit and I now have about a dozen flights. I really liked the K50 Pro but I love the 3D! It's the best flying 50 I have flown without a doubt. Really light and agile in the air and with a very consistent and precise feel. Collective punch and vertical performance are both excellent. Tail is very powerful and she autos well. Truly feels like 90 size performance in a smaller, cheaper package. Well done Compass.

Before the cynics ask, I'm not connected with Compass in any way and I paid for my K50 3D like anybody else

By the way, thanks to BobJ for recommendation on the Hatori 522 v2 - power is fantastic and it's smooth

Setup is
3 x 8417 on CCPM
GY601/9251
OS50 Hyper/Hatori 522 v2/OS #8/Wildcat YB 30%

Do you have the 3D equipped like the Pro, such as servos, engine, and muffler the same? Is the weight different? Can you explain the differences in performance?

Not doubting you word, but just want a better discription than "it the best flying 50".

HSA,

Good question! I was expecting a lot of similarity between the two given the number of common parts and was surprised by the step up in performance.

As to my two models, engine is the same in both but I have an MP2 Q50 exhaust on the Pro so the Pro has a little less power. The Pro has Futaba 9250s on CCPM - same speed (0.1s), slightly less torque (5.5Kg vs 6.5Kg). Both run the same Duralite pack/regulator. Gyro/rudder servo are the same. Blades are the same.

I suspect the lower weight, higher CofG location and the common shaft CCPM arrangement are the biggest contributors (in that order) to the differences in flight performance. I haven't weighed the two but the 3D is noticeably lighter when you compare the two, one in each hand
