if your thinking an os 18 it might be a good
idea to get the carbon blades as it might blow
the woods apart
the other thing i read about was a t rex
flybar an paddles, improved fast forward flite?

the zoom ic will fly on trex blades but there a bit
short 325mm it seems better on the 350mm blades
see if you can get heliro blackhawk 500gp spares
or ( suprex) there are the same as the zoom but
cheaper
i love the the way it flies absolutely screaming
it has a 10/10 pitch curve and it will do some
aerobatics but full on 3d?
a bit more power a 15 / 18 motor and some carbon
blades who knows have a look on protech website
and watch the video it look like it has the potential

Hija guys
I am no 3d pilot so i cant comment but it loops and rolls just fine
i believe a bigger engine would make this thing ballistic ...but aim happy as it is for now ..i might see if I could get a 15 or 18 engine in there
I just learned that i should be using 16% nitro and not 15%
Apparently the 16% can provide more power ?

Iam not an IC guys so this is all a learning curve to me but I do like flying ALL DAY LONG

I love E flying and always will but NOTHING beats nitro for a FULL DAY of fun
My learning curve is really coming on
I dont even get high heart beat anymre looping, guess that's what happens when you can do it all day long ...
pitch is no problem ? I dont see an issue with it
I have idel up at -10/+11 and its more then enough.
The problem is the power and sometimes I just have to watch the HS Sometimes it bogs a bit and the HS dies , a more power full engine should solve this ...
Blades ..i tried Trex blades but they are useless
you do need 350mm
and the CF of protech kick serious ass
the price is a bit high and I just ave found the perfect replacement
Helitec make 350 CF blades now So these will be my next pair

was out of stock or not in yet.
back to mine i have just fitted a t-rex flybar an
paddles these are shorter by 50mm and the paddles
are 2g lighter and its all stiffer i also got the
protech carbon blades so a lot of testing over
easter

flybar from atrex ...
right you are didnt know they fit
So actuall you made it shorter??
i like it a bit longer really to have a bit more agility ...let us know how the trex mods work

Iam off today for a day of Nitro flying
i let u guys knowhow it went

the t rex flybars do fit, it is a tight fit
you might need to put a 2mm drill in the
control arms but it will make it more agile
depending on what paddles you get i have used
6g there are 4-6-8g ones the zooms are 8g
the shorter flybar seems to make things
a bit sharper as well

Great FUN!!!!

busy trying to get the most of the little engine (needlesettings) ...Not the most powerfull but makes up in Fun factor and engine NOIZE ! (contemplating a bigger engine) ...but I think i might just wait for the Nitro trex600 Iam ready for it ...bring it on

Did i say Its Great Fun

have a look now
I run 15% for a while and didnt realize 9well didnt get told :O) that it needs 16% nitro
So now i am flying 16 but i dont see a big difference
All good though getting ready for the Trex600N

Me and my IC zoom 450

A coupple fo weks are gone and the fun factor is still the same
A few things I found out about the little IC motor and a fww things I like your opinions on

Once i have the needle setup correct to give enough power I have the problem that the heli IMHO should never be filled to the top
The tank when filled to the top is too heavy and honestly makes the heli barely lift off
So i dont fill the thing anymore then half full
Gives only about 4 mins of flight if i am lucky but at least this way I have power the full time
Anyone can confirm this ?

Also i really wonder if a gov is needed? The fluctuations in HS are rather big
Depending on how full the tank is (how heavy the heli is ) and at what stage in flight
After a hard punchout I level the throttle (equalling middle stick and have about 0 to +2 pitch) and the HS goes up screaming because no load on the heli
When i reduce the ATV on the throttle this does not help at all
In general I find there is hardly any noticable change when changing ATV on throttle from anwhere betweene 75% or 85 % seems all the same
So in idle up i run 80 78 75 78 80 !

Also i dont use the nr 3 glow plug anymore
I found the no8 OS plug works much better
what is the differecnes between the Numbers on Glow plugs anyway ?

Although I know my mechanical setup very well from a few years of E helis I still have lots to learn about IC motors
All i do is fiddle with the engine
Mechanically the 450 zoom is fantastic
I havnt even looked at it since i build it only the motor and needle settigns require my full attention at all times ...

Any suggestions are welcome ...

Sounds like you need to richen the mid-range needle on your engine a little. When you come off the throttle it should not over rev.
Turn it counter-clockwise (CCW) about 1/8 turn and see if that helps.

@Lefty and Leroy

thanks for the advice but I have been trying with the HIGH needed to set this correct
I have No mid range needle
Only high and low
If i chanage the needle and make it a bit richer then at the beginning of the flight i have the problem, its a heavy (lost fo fuel in heli) and therefore I have not enough power

if i would set the heli as you say theniit might not over rev the heli when comming of the throttle BUT then I have no power in beginning of the flight ..??

change the throttle curve i run a 100 75 50 75 100 curve
witch stops it over reving in the middle, the engine
hangs on the pipe so you don't loose HS but you don't
over rev. i use the os8 plug aswell.what is it with
the weight thing, mine runs well with a full tank and
has no problem with weight i have even put a bigger
U/C on to get the tail out of the grass (our field is BAD)
i did think it might upset it but no problem

Does sound like a mixture problem.if you know the factory settings, set them back to them.Plus about 3/4 turn,to make it purposely rich.
Keep adjusting the low speed one a tiny bit leaner and hover it with some full pitch climb outs until turning it makes it worse, then back off a touch. Then start on the high speed one till it does the same.
A bit time consuming i know but should sort it out.
Normal was 0,35.70.80.90 adjusting pitch in N to hover just above mid stick. Idle 1 should be almost 100% all the way.Motor screaming
I p....d around with a Webra 35 a year a too ago and had to do the same.good luck...........
