Go to the Vario web site and they have a K&N filter that will fit the G23.

They also have one for the Z230, it does not have a choke. Make sure you get the right one. G23 filter w/choke, G230 filter without choke

G23 filter

Make for sure you talk to vario about the right one and if you are using the one without the choke, you cut off the inside collar so the 3 set screws will hold on the filter..( lets it seat further in ) Took out my Bergen last week when the filter came off in flight...

Thanks everyone. I will contact Vario. I was just trying to get a K&N number that I could take to the local auto/performance parts store. I have seen them before but didn't need one then of course. I will be using the new carb so I want need the choke on the filter. Thanks again!

Airfilter

I ran my Xcell gass several years and several gallons without a airfilter and had not one problem. I believe it is a wast of time, money, and profromance.

The use of an air filter depends on where you fly. Las vegas is one of the few places you do not need an air filter. I lived in Las Vegas for four years when I was in the Air Force. I flew with a group of guys in the UNLV stadium parking lot on the weekends. Where I fly now there is only grass fields to fly from. The grass and pollen alone will clog any carb.

You can buy a K&N looking filter that is used on breather vents for cars at AutoZone or PepBoys, and even comes with cool blue or red anodized end caps. Around $7.

Couldn't find anything on the web about the filter I mentioned above, but here's the K&N version:

It's part number KN62-2470. Around $18. Looks like the base is a bit too small to fit on the walbro carb, but if you get creative, it might work!

Vario USA sells the same filter. They even cut the flange at the base for you. It also comes with a metal mounting base and mounting screws that fit the carb. This would be a good replacement element.

k&n filter

this appears to the be the exact filter sold by vario. on the website, it shows a vario sticker, but the muffler has a chrome cover with "k&n" on it. even includes the oil.

vario also sells an "adapter" for $10. you will need the adapter in any event.
