e-Electric General Discussion > Help with Eco 8 CCPM on JR 662

A friend is trying to set up an Eco 8 CCPM with his JR 662 radio. According to him the Eco 8 uses 90 degree CCPM, and I can't figure out how to do 90 degree CCPM on the 662, or if it's even possible.

Anyone have experience with this?

Alternatively, is it possible to do 120 degree CCPM on an eco 8?

I apologize in advance for crossposting this to the radio forum also.

Hi

I'm not an expert on the Eco 8 but know a little about it, the standard swashplate only allows for 90 degree CCPM and the JR662 will only do 120 CCPM, your options are to set it up with mechanical mixing which is very sloppy on the Eco, you can buy the metal swashplate which will allow 120 CCPM or I know some that have used the 120 degree CCPM software in the 662 with the std model and just lived with the interaction.
If he is just going to be hovering around it is not that bad but will cause more of a problem with larger amounts of swash movement!

You might be able to move the outer ball locations on the std swashplate to allow 120 CCPM but from memory I don't think there is much plastic to tap into at these locations.

Hope this helps.

Best regards

swash setup...

I use a Hitec Eclipse 7 - and it doesn't have 90 degree mixing either so you use the 180 mixing.

that only gives you your 2 ailerons - so you have to slave the elevator to one of the aileron channels...

(in my radio you do this with one of the programmable mixes)

In the basic ECO 8 kit (which comes with mech. mixing) you have enough pieces to drill holes in the swash and put ball links on but I agree it might not be such a hot idea unless you are really precise in your drilling.

Bob, thanks for the reply. I figured out today exactly what you said, that the 662 is limited only to 120 degree CCPM. He actually has the upgrade swashplate that has the ability for 120 degree inputs, although after phrasing my question to him differently a number of times I'm not sure why he insists that he "can't do 120 degree unless he remounts the servos." he is rather new to the whole thing and I can't get quite the info I need to make a judgement without actually seeing it. (he lives about 70 miles away).

I haven't actually seen the heli, and hopefully he will bring it by and it may be just a matter of hooking it up for 120. He tried it using mechanical mixing and was very disappointed with the sloppiness. I don't want to go and say that he could have bought a better choice in radios and heli. My policy (learned the hard way) is to never voice my true opinion to another person about the equipment he chose after he already purchased it. All that does is upset the client and lose his trust.

the reason is...

that he's probably seen lots of pictures on the web of people making custom mounts for 120 degree mixing.

in order to have the rods perpendicular to the servo arms you have to offset the servos (there's not enough room on the frame) so people mount them in all kinds of interesting ways e.g. see

this link

good luck

You don't absolutely have to make those special mounts. It'll work fine with the servo's screwed to the frame. On one side the servo goes all the way forward with the arm towards the back of the heli, on the other side the servo goes far enough back to clear the backside of the first servo and the arm points towards the front of the heli. Remove 4 screws, drill 4 new holes - no big deal!
