This is not in the directions but to properly secure the epoxied end to the tail Boom I HIGHLY recommend drilling and placing in a small screw in the side of the black epoxied end. The ends are only epoxied on and this 5 cent added precaution could save you $$ in the future.
Also for potential future buyers mount the tail servo between the frames during assembly. This will give you a more linear control for the tail. You will however have to drill a 3/32 hole in the plastic horizontal fin mounts to allow the carbon push rod to pass through.
If you are ready for 3d I highly recommend you get the 3d "O" rings from HHI ($1.99) for a pack of four. I recommend getting two packs and forcing in five rings instead of four. The stock dampening rubber is to soft for hard 3d.
Invest in a pack of wheel collars. Place one on each side of the flybar and use these instead of weights or tape to balance the flybar. They are much lighter, faster and will not slow down cyclic response.
If you have carbon fins a little trim tape on the vertical will greatly help with orientation while flyng.
If you ask you can get a pack of 3 main shafts for this heli for $20. or This will save you $10 if bought separately. A 3 pck of tail blades for $16 is also avail able and will fit most helis out there. (Hint: use the extra to get o rings!)
If you find that your main gear slightly rubs the flange on your pinion gear, simply install four washers between the torrington and your main gear. This will raise you gear slightly and allow for clearance to the pinion flange reducing the load on the bearing.
Metal to metal screw contact always need locktite. Use blue and never red. Using locktite in metal to plastic applications will degrade the resin.
By applying 1 layer of electrical tape to boom where the push rod holders go will allow you to securely CA them to the boom AND easily remove them intact in the future if necessary for reuse.

I skipped the screw idea, and just used JB Weld... they are never coming apart..

A small torch still comes in handy getting this stuff apart later.. I destroyed a seesaw because I used the blue (15bucks for a new one) any tiny 2mm set screw should get Purple or green loctite. Or next time.. You'll be being those little expensive gears and belt pulleys...

This is a MUST>>> along with the 3pc flybar package they sell..$$$$

did you try the fancy aluminum brackets for the horz/vert stabs?? these are well worth the money.. My boom is solid as a rock since I installed these. IMPO.... Great tips.. thanks for sharing them.. see my site for a few more on the quick page... btw.. What main gear are you running?? Mine sounds like a box of bolts being shook up.. Would the 40 dollar white gear help this?? also now that I have some time on the machine, the top of my clutch bell is sloopy as hell in the bearing and wobbles around.... Got a good fix for this???

To effectively use JB weld you would have to get it between the boom and the black end piece which is already epoxied on. The screw is and extremely cheap (about 5 cents) and extremely quick fix versus JB which is about four bucks and a trip to the store.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------The wobbleness in you bearing at the top of the clutch bell could be caused by the main gear touch the flange of the bell. This keeps the pinion from sliding up inside of the starter shaft bearing as far as it could go and could lead to play and wobbleness. Also wobblenes will eventually lead to premature wearing of the starter shaft. I have the stock main gear on both of my quicks installed with the washers and they are both pretty quiet. If your main gear was originally install and did press against this flange it coud have led to a slight warpage and thus the noise you hear. I do have the cnc main gear coming though.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------The aluminum fin mounts do work great, my tip for the electrical tape is for those who just purchased the kit and want to fly but did not purchase the optional metal mounts. The tape will allow for a clean and easy removal later without damage to the plastic mounts, scraping or debonder needed.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I appreciate you response, Quick pilots need to stick together. If anyone has any other tips out there please keep them coming.

Start shaft

Also remind people to grind a deeper flat spot on the start shaft where the set screw holds on to. It is not deep enough for a good grip and will come loose after a few starts or even worse in my case on my first attempt to fly it.

People who have not owned a Quick do not know what they are missing. Best dollar for dollar heli I have owned. I had to spend over 250.00 in upgrades on my Raptor to get it half as decent as the Quick.
