unbalanced blades.....check this, as the faster they go the more vibration you will get.

Also a bent main shaft, bent flybar , bent spindle shaft , all will produce vibrations. You will have to dismantle your heli to check these things. Shafts and spindles can be checked by rolling them on a very flat surface. Good luck.

There are lots of ways to balance blades. The quickest and simplest is to bolt the 2 blades together so the the leading edge of the blades makes a long straight edge, with the bolt hole at the middle (easier to do than describe ).

Add tape to the light tip until the balance point is on the bolt.

This method only balances the blades statically, but it's quick and easy, and usually good enough.

My prefered method uses an accurate scale and is discussed here

Flybar paddles?
If they are not square with each other, it'll shake.
Head speed too low?
Describe the vibrations with a bit more detail.
Is it the tail shaking, is it in the head, is it in the frame?

More detail needed about your shakes.

Pull the main blades and run it up easy, does it shake with no mains?

I would make a suggestion that you remove the main blades and power up the heli and see if the vibration is still there. Have you checked for any play in any of the bearings. Are any screws and bolts etc loose? Is the motor secure and running true? Basically anything that rotates needs to be checked. One other thought is if your motor is running eractically due to interference to the speed controller. Good luck... !!!

it being in the air is only the head speed vs pitch. I'd say that if you have the blades ballanced the issue is in the paddle alignment and ballance.

its a guess like all the rest. There are so many variables....more info is hard to give but we could use it here.

Take the blades off, what happens.

take the paddles off, what happens....add just the blades...etc. etc.

I just got rid of a vibe by paying keen attention to paddle alignment. I spent so much time ballancing the blades, I lost over all focus. one flybar pitch arm was slighly out of alignment and the opposite paddle was off a scoshe.....at 2800 rpm, the tail control rod was a blur, vibrating horizontaly. Tail based vibes cause the contol rod to vibrate vertically...in my experience...so I went towards the main blades and didn't check the paddles. Fixed now and I got 3k rpm tonight...smooth as silk. Medusa 3400.... I should not have doubted my KOK extreems were good out of the package.

If you have the shogun V2 like me or anyone I know that has one, there will always be bad vibes always have always will. I am thinking about upgrading the crap out of mine to see if I can ever get it to fly worth a turd.

I was thinking about starting with the belt conversion for shaft driven shoguns http://www.helihobby.com/html/zoom_400_upgrades.html because it looks WAAAAAAAAAY better than the junk that comes stock on the V2. Then if I still get a vibrating overloaded tail rotor drive system I'll try this http://cgi.ebay.com/shogun-v2-rc-he...VQQcmdZViewItem with this http://cgi.ebay.com/shogun-v2-rc-he...oQQcmdZViewItem .

Does anybody know if the belt conversion for shaft drive shoguns posted above will install in the shogun V2? Or if the 10mm tail boom posted above will fit the shogun V2?

Or this it's for a 9mm shaft http://cgi.ebay.com/zoom-shogun-3dx...oQQcmdZViewItem

I'm gonna go out to the garage and measure my tail boom width right after I post this.

The V1 has a stock boom diameter of 8.77mm, with the CF boom being slightly more. A V2 has a 10mm boom. (These are outside diameters).

The V2 is geared to have a higher tail speed for a given head speed than the V1, making it more prone to vibration than the V1. Some of the V1 belt conversions lower the tail speed further meaning even less vibration problem.

The problem seems to be related to the rather thin 2mm tail output shaft that is also quite long, so prone to flexing that causes vibration. There used to be some hardened shafts on the market, although I made my own from a 5/64 drill blank.

I dont like the drive pulley arrangement on the V2, so I went back to my belt converted V1 (but with the V2 head linkages).

Do you know if the V1 belt drive conversion will fit in the V2? Like if the pully fits in the airframe on the shaft ect...
