Yes, this may be true. BUT, I have three 90 size toys in the garage (among others) and one of those "$40.00 toys" (among others too) in the house. A lot of hard core heli guys have indoor toys and it's nice to know that one of our toys has a recall.

THANKS rotorsport

Seems rather ironic - in the section entitled "Safety - RC Helis are not toys" - is this reference to a "remote-control helicopter toy" ! (But, can you expect anything else out of the news media?)

I think the confusion is what is considered an RC Helicopter.
Some think an RC Helicopter can be a $10 toy even if it is IR however it is still RC.
So would a person flying a $10 RC/IR toy be considerd as an RC Heli Pilot? This all boils down to personal preference as to what the defeinition of "RC Helicopter" is.
I consider a $10 IR Heli a toy as much as a full size heli is a toy.

got your wires crossed...

how can you put a $10 toy in the same league as a 30/50/90 size machine? a $10 toy or even a $40 is just what it is.. a TOY.. a play thing you buy at a toy store. if you smack against the wall who cares... no damage... a $10/$40 is not going to cause any type of damage to anything but itself... and i definately would NOT consider someone flying a $10/$40 toy anything remotely close to a r/c heli pilot..

now 90 machines, can hurt someone or even kill someone and cause alot of propert damage... does that fit in the same league? they cost thousands of dollars to put together and require math and geometry to setup and configure.. so how can you compare the two and say they are similar...

thats like going to toys r us and getting a rc truck and taking it to a track to compete with real rc trucks... you think its gonna be able to keep up? you think people are not going to look at this guy and say... "whats wrong with you?" (just an example)

dont tell me that someone that flies only a bladerunner is as much a heli pilot as someone flying a R90 or anything else in the same class...?

nope

recalled heli... TOY

TOY?
HELILAB's kick ass "TOY" ha!
We call these "toys" to people that dont understand what these helis really are... but when one heli pilot talk to another heli pilot TOY is that last word you'll hear coming out their mouth

Cheap or not it is still an item some of us may have around the house for a novelty if norhing else. Jeez guys he Happened accross a report that may of been useful to some of us (remember We have some completely new pilots here that may have bought this heli not knowing any better.), and you guys flame the hell outta of him. That is very poor form. But then again what more could I expect from the "troll" section of RR members. Thanks for the interesting and possible useful article rotorsport.

As I was loading my car the other day a neighbor lady called out, "Is that your little toy." I just smiled and said, "yes."

I remembered something Judge Judy said in one of her TV court shows:

"Beauty fades but dumb is forever."
