post a photo of your bird and mount. We need to know what your speed and aperture settings are. Right click on one of your photos and it will tell you in the jpg image detail. You might be set at too low shutter for your type of mount. You can get photos at very low shutter speeds if you have the right mount setup, no fwd speed etc....but we need a starting point to answer the question. In general you want at least 1/500th shutter. If you've gotten this far, you can certainly improve them. Hardest part if done.(first pics that is).

I use to use an H5 and it isn't a bad camera but I bet you what is happening is that with using landscape mode the H5 is trying to get a good depth of field by using a higher aperture and a lower shutter speed. Use either sports mode which will give you a fast shutter speed or set the speed manually. You should start around 1000 to 800 shutter speed and then lower the speed to find the lowest usable speed for your setup. Don't forget to up the ISO to 400 or so but also play with this and use the highest ISO where you will still be happy with the results. It does help have a photo adjustment program to bring out the shadows or lower the highlights a little in case of over or under exposure.

Also take a good look at how your camera is isolated from the helicopter.

Hope this helps.

David

P.S. this photo was taken with my H5, so don't quit on the camera.

"Can I have a go ?"

That line from the UK TV advert still rings in my ears.

One thing experience teaches you in a situation like that is that it's much easier going up than coming back down again.

I don't want to tempt fate here Dave (so I'll touch some wood) - but do I detect a "relatively incident free" phase of your AP career right now ?.

Thanks for all your past help and I can say with all certainty that I couldn't be were I'm at without all of your help and the CARVEC System.

That say, be warned.

I will be blaming CARVEC for any and all future problems

Cheers mate!

Hey thanks - but I think your own determination played the biggest part. I think it got easier once we had CARVEC the right way up .

Everybody does ! - just make sure you have the flight recorder on so I can prove it isn't .

I think that stadium pops out because it is surrounded by the mother of all car parks.

Shot this pano just for fun on the way back from shooting the tennis stadium pano.
It contains DJs first sky donation and is just for fun and will not be used commercially. Hats off to DJ for being so generous.

I started my new job today working in a small local park doing maintenance.
I had a productive first day, I removed some graffiti, a couple of power poles and wiring, did some trash removal, removed a garden hose and towed a car. I feel like I earned my beer after a hard days work.

Before

After

Not really worth posting but it is the first time I have done this extensive artifact removal and kind of chuffed with the results.

Cheers!

Thats great photoshoping David! I tried to remove the folks from my shots but kept getting blurs instead of clean lines.

Your first photo would be really hard to remove the people. Nice shots by the way, are they taken on a 450? I want buddies that have homes like that

I use the Clone Stamp tool and a lot of the time I am down at the pixel level when doing the edges to get them as sharp and as true as possible.
The trick I find is in the pickup. When picking up a spot (with the alt click) to pick it up right on the edge then click where you want the edge to be. If I mess up I just Ctrl Z to step back and try again.

Hope this helps.

Yea, these are from my 450. Added tilt to my mount the other day. Im high tech now! Thanks!

I used the healing brush tool. I have never used the clone stamp tool. Sounds like something fun to play with. I will experiment with it. Maybe Ill have a "before and after" to post.

Better watch out Jeff. Those alpacas can be mighty sneaky, as they get ready to launch a cud (spit+thrown up food+new food) missile at you, or the helicopter. I'll give you a clue how I know: I got hit in the face, while clipping nails...

btw: worked at a zoo for 3 years

No bile missles, but they are quite aggressive when toting around a grain bucket.
