Thanks Irwin, will do. No flight today. The winds were up again and it was cold. Yesterday the wind peaked at 60 mph. Maybe I can get a flight in this week. If not, it will be this weekend. Man, I can't wait for spring and warmer temps.

Thank you very much. I tried to be non-bias and open as though I had never built one before. Although it took time with pics and all, It was a very enjoyable build. I would recommend these to any one. The flight report should be comming soon. Thanks again, Mike.

Flight report #1.

I couldn't wait to fly this prett bird. So, off to the field yesterday (saturday). Engine fired up first try. Almost no adjustments to keep it running. Spooled her up ready for testing. Nice quiet, smooth motor this is. Lots of power. I encountered a tail wag. Started out small, then got uncontrollable! Adjusted Tx and tried again. Nope, still there. Replaced Gyro with known working one. Nope, still there. Went home to try to figure it out.

Day #2. Sunday (today)

Replaced the tail servo (9254), nope still wag. Adjusted links, gear mesh, belt tension, control rod, tail blades, ATV, Gyro sensitivity, Throws, Removed any and all slop from servo to tail blades. Can't find out what the problem is! Here's the strange part, It only wags in HH mode. In rate mode I can fly the tail with no wag!

The wag seems rythmic. Not an intermittent "twitch". Sort of like
harmonic. Haven't seen this before with my other Quick.

The two helis are set up with the same servos, gyro, engine size, belt, gears. Pretty much everything except the carbon frames.
I am still trying to get to the bottom of this, so an actual flight report is coming!

Any sugestions would be helpful.

I know you want to make some graphics for my OD......dont' you?

I've put off painting mine because I lack any artistic ability. Been flying around plain jane since August....putting off painting. Hopefully the tail will be resolved and you'll get to do some flying. Sure is a nice looking bird.

I would be happy to do the graphics for you. No charge! Just send it to me and I could have it done in a couple of days. Tell me what you want on it and the colors to use. I could use the practice. I plan to swap booms and tails tonite or tomorrow. I'll let you know how it goes. Let me know about the canopy. I'm serious. Mike.

Well, I swapped out the boom, belt, and entire tail assembly with my other Quick 37. The wag stopped! I put the new boom, belt, and tail assembly on my old Quick 37 and WAG! I had a old hub from the old Quick that I replaced with a Stainless hub. I put it on the new Super heli and NO WAG! It seems to be the hub/grip assembly. It is the stainless version that comes with the new kit. The one I replaced it with is aluminum. My old Quick 37 has a new stainless hub w/ new grips and bearings. It doesn't wag! I think I may have gotten a bad hub. Sometimes things happen.
Anyway, I got the Super 37 flying and will post real flight report soon.

THERE IS NO FREE TIME ANYMORE! If I'm not at work then I'm working on the helis, thinking about the helis or flying the helis. Well, trying to. I did get a good hover in on the new one though. Pretty stable. Just like the rest! Maybe I can escape for a few minutes (hours) and get some real flight before the weekend.

A little DAB WILL DO YAH!

Acutally if you use a little BEARING grease on the hardened sleeve that goes into the one bearing that should fix your problem....

Got a second flight in today. The weather was just too nice not to. Anyway, Went out to the field. The winds had picked up a little but it was warm. Fueled her up and fired on the first stroke. Gotta love OS engines. Revved her up and off the ground she went. Pretty and stable. A little aft trim and it was nearly hands off hover! I did get to do forward flight sideways though. The wind came straight down the runway at the side of the heli. I had it tilted at about 75-80 degrees! Anyway proceeded to slip side to side and pumping the collective to see what she had. All I can say is WOW! I really didn't expect the "pop" that it had. It kinda took me by surprize. This OS37 Hyper had some power I tell you. Blades were tracking well and the heli is very predictable.
I do have to tune the carb a little for less fuel and higher RPM's. I drank the fuel! But I'm sure tuning and break in will yield better fuel economy.
Cyclic authority was good and crisp. It has no bad tendancies. It just wants to fly. Tail was smooth and precise. Does not have a jerky motion when rudder is applied. It will piro fast or slow with no problems.
Hopefully this weekend will be fruitful and can get some good in flight pics.
More to come!

83 vs 8 tooth in the SO 37

Hi Mike,

Do you use the 83 tooth main gear in other machine as well?

There is no question for us the 83 tooth instead of the 88 tooth allow the power band of the OS 37 to reach it full potentials.

The motor does not have to work as hard with better top end...

I wish we could do a comparison for power between the 83 vs 88 tooth main gears....

Have a good day...Irwin
