Here is a clear shot of the push/ pull system against the main gear.
I didn't show the landing gear installation. It is very easy by the instructions. The only thing I didn't do yet was to put the screws into the skids. I left these out untill the end so that I can acurately get a good footprint. I will be using a big battery, and I want it to set nice and flat on the skids. I don't anticipate a problem, that's just the way I do it.

Here's a shot of the boom mounted in the frame.
The boom is a very nice fit. No need to sand the mount or put tape on the boom. In fact, I had to slightly split the frames and mount to get it in! Don't forget to put the belt around the pulley in the frame.

Tail support rods.

Carbon fiber with aluminum ends!
As with any assemblies of this type, you want to make sure that they are both the same length. Measure once, twice, three times if necessary before you cut them. If they are off, your horizontal fin will be tilted to one side, or the boom will bow to one side.
The instructions say to use CA on the rod ends. I opted for 5 min. epoxy. If I break a rod, a little heat and they will come right off and I can use them again.

Because the rod ends are metal, I opted to put some fuel tubing washers between the ends and the frame. This will help to eliminate RF interference if they become loose.

Yes! Full metal head! The only thing plastic is the ball links. Assembly is by the book. No problems or mods. Relatively "quick" and easy. Couldn't help the pun.

All metal flybar assembly too! Bearings are factory installed.
Metal washout arms and base. The washout arms were assembled to the base already. I removed them to check for loctite. Re-assembled and installed.
Metal swashplate! This is a nice piece of machined aluminum! Only thing to do here is put the balls on. This particular swashplate is set up for 120 or 140 degrees CCPM. I'm using the 120.

Almost there! Motor and pipe installed. Motor mount was a precise fit between the frames. Motor was self aligning into the clutch bell.
Throttle linkage on. Ready for pitch and throttle curves to be set. When this was taken, I was awaiting the 401 gyro. It has come in and is shown in the following pics. Had a slight canopy issue, but with the expert help of Irwin, it has been remedied. The one thing I did do that was against the directions, was to mount the tail servo with the spline out the right side of the frame instead of under the boom mount. I like this better as it makes for a cleaner profile and nothing sticking out the side. Either way works fine, I just opted for this way. The carbon tail control rod is also installed and run thru the guides.

Here it is! All dialed in. header tank installed. And some cool graphics.

Only about 8 hours for the graphics. Custom, 1 off!

Even did the tail!

Top shot with the new carbon blades!

This was fun to build!
Total build time...about 20 hours with pics. Not counting sleep and work, plus 8 hours on the graphics.

Pro's.......
Easy assembly- parts fit together nicely.
All carbon frame- nicely machine cut, no defects.
Metal head- Fully machined metal components!
Quality machined parts- aside from a little sanding for that
"just right fit", no issues, no defects.
Push/ pull linkages- Very accurate leverage control for CCPM.
Large battery/ reciever tray- Don't have to cram it in there!
Great tech support- Irwin helped out a great deal when I had a few questions and sending me the extras I needed!
--------------------------------------------------------------------

Cons........
In my opinion, This is not a helicopter for the beginner to build. The instructions are lacking in a few areas, but it is easy for the experience builder to overcome. That said, Irwin and his team are very helpful if and questions or difficulties arise!
The canopy took a little engineering to get it right. It was not a big issue though.
--------------------------------------------------------------------

Although it is always nice to have a new helicopter to build and fly, This build was especially nice. The quality of the parts are outstanding, and there are less parts than others I have built or helped build.

I am hoping fot the maiden flight tomorrow as it was very windy today! 50-60 mph winds. Can't very well fly in that much less maiden. If it flies anything like my other Quick heli, I will be very pleased. I don't anticipate haveing and problems.
I will post the flight report as soon as it happens.

Stay tuned...............

Looks good. When you gonnna maiden it? I'm anxious to hear if you can tell the difference in the frame layout while flying. The pull pull should feel more positive. What's the all-up weight, should be pretty good with the carbon frame.

Haven't weighed it yet. It IS lighter that my other 30. You were right earlier. the head is closer to the frame. It's not so tall. The frame is very rigid. I expect it to fly well.

Well I just weighed them both. The original is almost 8lbs, w/o fuel. The Super is almost 7lbs, w/o fuel. 1lb. NOT BAD!
They both have about the same components in them, motor, pipe, servos, reciever, blades, etc.

Kewl, a pound lighter!!! You should be able to tell that right away. I bet the roll rate should be better with the shorter shaft. Weight and balance should work out better also with the roll and pitch servo up front.
