Ok I gotta post this. I'm really getting scared with the T600's selling so cheap. Way way to many people are buying them and then treating them as though they are a T450. A local pilot who has to gain 200ft of altitude to do a flip, because he canot program - pitch to his heli now has a t600 here. I WILL NOT FLY WITH HIM! Other pilots are telling me he is hovering his T600 right infront of him and reaching out and touching the Vert stablelizer in flight. I have seen this done many times before with a T450, but never a 600. What makes these people do such stupid things? I will never fly with a pilot I have not screened and certified myself. Its just getting way to dangerous at organized feilds. Its just scary what you can get a T600 flying for with cheap equip. You fly a $2000 heli alot different then a $500 heli.

where's the field rules and why don't they enforce them...that's what's clearly needed.

Where is this guy at? I wanna know too, being from the Tampa Area...maybe he'll try his lil stunt in Port Charlotte?

I know he's not from Bay City, none of our gang there has a T600.

I know there's some guys that work at that Dale Mabry Hobby Town that have T600s...they don't impress me with their knowledge or customer skills.

Such a stunt will not be tolerated at my upcoming event in Zephyrhills. Obvious violation of the AMA safety code.

Yupper thats where they hang. Not gonna mention any names. But theres one guy that works their that is an absolute hazzard. I have seen him tie up his dog then taunt it with his 450, flying it 6 inches above its head. And do the touch the stableizer thing. Sad thing is they cant fly for S&#t! I flew with those guys for a couple months and he would crash 2 out of 3 flights. I quit flying with them 4 months ago but I heard they got some T600's. You know this idiot by the incredibly low HS. The other idiot i was talking about above dont work there but hangs out there alot and flys with all them. I'll PM you their names...For saftey sake.

That's insane. Is this at a r/c field? If so, there should be a lot more enforcement of safety. It's a good thing that you stopped flying with this guy as he would probably ended up hurting you, or you would have witnessed seeing him hurt himself or someone else, which if he keeps that up, will happen!

I get nervouse when I fly my CX2 in the living room and catch it in flight!! I just can't believe what these guys are thinking with that much rpm. Not to mention what you said about the dog! You should report him to the humane society!

Unfortunatly theres not that much stuff organized here so most people are parking lot flyers. I agree, but the most horrible thing is that they work at a LHS and spread this behavior.

Crash 2 out of 3 flightS!! I need to get a job there, sounds like alot of extra cash around. I crash then have to go out and work a second job for three months to buy parts then quit the job so I have time to fix it fly it again.

Follow them around with a camcorder, so when the inevitable happens atleast we can have a Public Service Video for what NOT to do. Post it up in the rrTV!! atleast that way some good will come from someone elses ignorance! And when it does happen , whos going to take advice from the guy called "Stubby"

Instead of bitchin about it here on RR, why not approach the pilots in question and respectfully tell them how you feel in a non aggressive manner and possibly help the situation. Maybe lend a hand with setup and safety. What a thought!
And I dont know where you bought your Trex 600, but my "all up cost" it close to $2500.00.

And also, wherever you go, you will find dare-devils and show-offs. With role models like we are fortunate to have, its a given. And lastly, I doubdt a less fortunate pilot with limitted funds could afford to stay active in this hobby when crashing 2 out of 3 flights. Come on man, It takes some serious cash to crash and repair that much.
This is just my two cents worth and in know way meant to start and arguement. I am confident that if you do as I suggested, everyone involved will benifit, just like we all should in this exciting hobby.

I can attest to that .... if I knew these guys I would advise them of their unsafe practices but I don't. I've seen some stoopid acts from stoopid people, too, but the problem is that most people that do something intentionally reckless don't care and will ignore good safety advice. I usually just go flying in a secluded area without all the stoopid around, at least my safety is in my hands that way.

Was also thinking .... when you fly any RC aircraft, only you the pilot knows how dangerous it is. Whether it's kids or adults that are spectators, chances are (especially kids) that they think you have 100% control at all times and don't realize how difficult it actually is to fly one. I bet if the parents of all those kids knew how dangerous they can be (or even saw on hit the ground and shred itself to pieces) they probably would have second-guessed letting their kids sit in the stands that close. I know I would. I've heard enough people call them toy airplanes and toy helicopter until they see one up close and personal. After that they usually gain a sense of respect for the hobby. I like to think that at an RC field that other pilots know to look out for helis on the ground or in the air but when piloting I think you should still consider yourself responsible for at least calling out to alert everyone if you lose control or something malfunctions. Anytime I go to the field I feel that the safety of anybody I take with me is my responsibility (again, especially kids) as well. When it comes to safety, it's mostly just common sense. I think if you plan on flying in a reckless manner or plan on trying some crazy new maneuvers, at least warn everyone so those that aren't comfortable in your pilot skills can leave, take cover, or ask that you wait until they can move to a safer distance first. I wouldn't take my kids out in football gear to watch helis but I've seen some flying that I would definately not want my kids within 1000' feet of, or more for that matter. It's really sad to hear about kids getting an RC related injury. Flying RC is like having a daangerous power tool with 0 safety gaurds on it. And while failsafe is a very good idea for airplanes, there's not really any failsafe for helis. Just got to thinking cause it's late and I'm tired but I figured I would throw my personal oopinion on safety out there. Be safe, fly happy!

Ok I tried to tell them the danger countless times. They just dont care! I'll tell you 3 times then its your fingers on the line. I'll offer a suggestion or help and they just ignore me. I did all I can. They dont care about price. They work at a LHS. Your think their paying for all their parts?

Sounds like you've done your fair part, like I mentioned earlier if they act that reckless then they don't care and won' listen to safety advice. Sounds like they will end up learning the lesson on their own, just hope they don't hurt someone outside their clique. Soon enough they will probably get fired for stealing countless new carbons from crashing then they'll find a new hobby, maybe RC boats.

These guys most have a death wish! I chopped the leg off of my plastic picnic table with my Walkera 36, that got my attention plenty enough. I couldn't even imagine what my 600 would do to a object or person, scary to think about. I guess they will just have to learn the hard way, thats the only way some people learn.

I work part time a local hobby shop (Hobbytown USA) here in Indianapolis and I am just starting to get back into the RC Heli Hobby and I help out sometimes in the RC Air Dept. and I tell people these helis are not toys. I have told them you have pay attention to them and your surroundings because they can cause injury to you or to any bystander.

I know a guy who could barely fly his 450 then got a 600. First time I saw him fly the 600, it went straight up, when 100 ft up and 200 ft down wind above some houses then when crashing down narrowly missing the houses. This was an open field so there were no "official" rules. Now we stand WAY back when he flies. Nice guy with not so nice skills (yet).
