My flying friend has one. He's only doing hover and circuits, but it works fine for that. Doesn't drift much, no big tail demand though.

I HAD one in a LMH and it quit working after 2 10 minute flights. It worked fine at first. Then while in the air I started having to give more and more tail correction. I landed and found the gyro not working but I still had tail rotor control. Tried adjusting gain and re-centering but no response from gyro. It's only 2 months old so its going back for warranty repair.

gyros

If you want a low priced piezo gyro that works very well (is even a dualrate unit) try the Century PG-2000 from Heli-world. Or if you want a real small one, try their Picco Piezo.

Both work great and are very dependable.

I have a HeliMax single rate micro peizo gyro for 6 months. I got it with my Nexus as a combo. I have no have any problem because of it. I like it, but I am considering to get a GY 401 with 9253 after I finish my Auto-Rotation practice.

Sound's familiar!!
I got the Heli Max peizo with my Nexus combo and it worked great for about 5 tanks of fuel...then she just up and quit on me. Sounds alot like PHI Flier's story. I would definitly question the durability of it! I didn't send it back for warranty, the new GY401 I got made the Heli Max seem obsolete, so it ended up in the 'ol heli bone-yard . I'm not saying their all lemon's, but I do kind of wonder...

Micro peizo?

I had a GWS P-03 in my Nexus, it lasted about 3 flights and then went nuts. It was very cold at the time-don't know if that had any effect, but, the supplier said not to fly it below -5C about 28 deg. and he replaced it. I have not installed the new one, it's still in the package. ---------BladeRunner.

Nexus combo here too!!

I have had about 30 flights on mine without any problems, except for a little drift.

I got the GY401/9253 for Christmas and put it in, BUT, it's coming back out to go in my Sceadu. I haven't tried the Helimax on a very cold day, probably 45deg was the worst.

Every product has a few duds...........it's just that some have more than their fair share!!

Micro Peizo?

I agree with you Hockeytown, I might just have had a dud. It was off right from the beginning, I used the supplied tape and every time I fired up the engine the slightest vibs would send the gyro into fits!

I ended up useing very soft foam and that seemed to calm it down, but it gave up altogether just after that, 3rd flight ended in a crash from about 100 ft. I should have known it was on the way out, the Red & Green lights were not working properly.

Pilot error really, at that time I didn't have enough second nature to hit the throttle hold and ride it in. But, I don't trust the new one either. I don't think that gyro is really for helis, maybe electrics. Maybe I will use it on the rudder of one of my planks. -------BladeRunner.

I use the GWS PG-01 piezo gyros with no problems at all. I have 3 of them all working great. I wanted another for my newest heli but my LMO was out of stock so I bought a CSM180 piezo. It is working ok at the moment, only 2 flights so time will tell. My flying buddy insists on buying expensive gyros, like the CSM 400`s and 540`s and he has nothing but trouble with AT LEAST 4 of them, and also a couple of 180`s before that so either 1)he has a lot of bad luck 2) he is doing something wrong and knackering them up or 3) CSM may have some quality probs to sort out. He is waiting on a decision on two 400`s at the moment. He wants to exchange them for the new JR 400 instead, he has one already and it works great. Time will prove what they are like.
