Has anyone had any issues with the tail authority of the Knight 50?

Have you had to turn up the gain on your gyro to keep her solid?

Or has she been rock solid from day one and you wish your other helis were as good?

I got a helicopter for my girlfriend,
It was a good trade!

I've never had and issue with the tail on my Knight. I have the Sport version with the plastic tail running 95mm NHP blades and a 401 gyro. The tail is rock solid on mine

Here at altitude

Here at 5280 feet it is easy to blow tails out if they do not have a lot of authority. The tail on my knight 50 sport is as good if not better than any of the 50's that I have had in the past. On my 611 I run the gain at 35% (same as I did on my stratus), and it will hold long after the motor bogs down. I feel that the knight has one of the most solid tail designs on it, and if you are having tail autority problems with a knight it is not the design of the tails fault. I would look at the thrust bearing in the tail (grease and proper assembly), I would look for binding in the pushrod, I would look at the tail blades (stock plastic blades are not the best for 3D), and I would look at gyro setup.

My knight 50 will do it all at this altiude including tail slides, backward funnels at insane speeds, piro flips with a consistant piro rate, Super fast backwards fligh both inverted and upright. After owning a bunch of different brands I personally feel that the Knight 50 Sport is the best 50 flying that I have owned, and has one of the best tail on it in both design and locked in feel...

Hope that helps!!!

Hi,

The trust bearing on the tail blade grip got to be inspected often. Make sure the blade grip is not too hot after a few minutes of hovering. IF it does it means there is sign of worn on the trust bearing.

Knight 50 Tail

Hi Guys,

I had the oppertunity to fly the knight 50 and the knight 50 3D. They were both stock, with carbon tail blades. It had a Futaba gyro 401 w/9254 on heading lock, and it was LOCKED. The set up was good, and the heli was built good as well. The combination of blades where just perfect ( Main 600mm - tail 95mm ) I ve tried many machines and I was inpressed. There is many factors that determine a flight of a helicopter, blades, gyro, set-up, servos, and the person who built it. I have no complaints.....Where can you get a glow helicopter for that price.

thanks

Nick
