Forgot how big this bad boy was until the mechanics were shown on the woodwork in front of the fuse. Keep us posted Butch. I know it's going to be awesome like all your scale work.

85 inches of Fast, Smooth, and sleek

It looks like it will all fit. I placed the structure into the fuse so I could get an idea as to how the SD mechanics will fit. Looks pretty good. This thing is so HUGE there is a ton of room for all the goodies. The cockpit area looks as though it will be pretty much empty. I am going to have fun making a scale cockpit for this thing.

Another piece of the puzzle should be here the first of next week.

Looks great Butch, I've been looking forward to this thread. I learn something new everytime you bust out one of these projects. Is that a helical main gear that I see? Steve

Yes you would be correct, and its a pretty big on at that. I have happened across some great deals over the past couple of weeks for components for this baby. There are a couple of major things I still need, but when they get here I will be going full swing. I am just waiting for some nice weather to get out and fly my 66. Its already to go.

very nice, cant wait to see it completed. I have to give you credit for being so patient. I would have quit my job after about a week and locked myself in the shop till it was done. Hell, it only takes about a week to put a real one together

You must work for Bell. LOL

Working for Sikorsky for 20 years I am not sure they could do anything in a week. This will follow suite.

Yep you are right. It has been very hard not to jump all over this thing. I had to get to a point with another project before I would allow myself to start this one. I was afraid if I worked on this, I would have never finished my 66 until this was complete.

I received the TGB and Hub today. This thing is massive. From blade hole, to blade hole is about 100mm. The output shaft is 7mm and input 6mm. Each blade length will be around 140mm giving a tail rotor diameter of about 380mm or so. I need a bigger shop, truck to haul this thing in and a bigger door out of the basement.

"Girlfriend, get the sawsall"
