Well it would have helped if it came with instructions! IT DID NOT COME WITH ANY WRITTEN INSTRUCTIONS.
I did not think of turning the long rods around. I ended up cutting both the rod end and the supplied bolts as the original length was too long for both ends.

So, Now I need two new custom bolts from AfinerEdgeMFG.

Oh crikey,I hope you can get those bolts - they look a bit specialist to me.
I think that I had an email sent to me from Finer Edge with an attachment, but the instructions are on his web site.

Just installed this on a KSJ starter and OH MY.. where have you been all my life!!!!! This makes silly power, cranked my most troublesome 90 szh over with no lugging what so ever. And I mean.. with authority like if it were a 50 or 30!!

The mounting KSJ's tabs/bolts whatever they are, needed to be bent in a little as the ksj's bolt pattern is a little wider than the dynatron.

wow... just wow. Something that works as advertised to a T.

Yep, if it lasts it is going to be THE setup.

I have mounted it on my 1994(!) Sullivan starter. I did make one mod - the white 'module' between the starter + battery mount houses a relay to avoid putting big current through the Sullivan switch (which are known to weld together on 24v). It is all much less bulky than it appears. And turns a cold 90 over as if it was not there.

No response following Order

I have purchased several adaptors from Kevin and been very pleased with the prompt emails and dispatch. Excellent product. I usually receive them about a week later. I paid for 2 more units about 10 days ago - I have not received any confirmation of order, dispatch or emails that I have sent. Phone calls have not been returned after leaving a message. Anybody shed any light?

I suspect that might be the case. A note on the website or auto responding email would have been helpful. After checking my paypal payment I now realise that the order was placed on the 16th of August 2007 which is a reasonable period of 14 days to have had a response from the seller. Love the quality of the adaptors and hope to receive them soon.

Confirming Vacation and Stock Status

I though I should jump on here and let those know who are reading here that indeed I'm on vacation in Thailand/China and have also run out of stock since coming here. The remaining stock was shipped out two days ago including the two to Mohan De Silva.

Sorry for the delays, lack of information and status on the web site which is updated now with a price decrease for backorders which will fill late September when I return to machine more.

Thanks for you patience and consideration,

Kevin J. Madsen

I love my setup. Been using it all summer. Finally don't have to be concerned about a starter or charging huge Nicad packs. This pack charges in 45 mins and I have two that just snap in.

This IS the ultimate starter!

The battery is a great flat bottom too. The starter sits vertical in your field box or on a flat surface.

I second that - I purchased a couple of adaptors and installed them on all my Sullivan dynatron starters. I have other alternative power sources such as flightpower 5S Lithium battery packs and 16 sub cells but nothing beats the tidy installation with this adaptor.

The Lithium pack will charge in minutes with the fast charger and will last weeks. Due to the popularity of the Mahkita LXT range the prices of the 18V lithium packs and charges have come down. It also gave me an excuse to buy their range of LXT tools which are extremely well built and a pleasure to use.

See my gallery for starters (Yes I have gone over the top)

Received replacement adaptors

Just to put the record straight - I have received a replacement package from Kevin Madsen. The original package was sent several weeks ago but presumed lost... as it was not received in the usual time frame of a few days later. Upon his return from vacation a replacement was sent to me which was received in 5 days here in the UK.

Thank you very much Kevin.

I bought one of the finer edge adapters recently and wow, it's done really nice.

I have been able to turn over my 90 with no problem, for some reason one of my Trex 600's must be hard to start as I can only get it to go if I put the heli on it's side.

Anyway, if you already have the batteries for a drill this is a no-brainer setup.
