That would be my guess. Sometimes I wonder why hobby shop guys say the things they do.
I was in my local shop and got into an argument with the guys there (that I've known since I was a kid) about the DX7. The argument was about the total number of Spektrum users that can fly at a time. They wouldn't believe me when I said that the max number was 40. There are 80 frequencies in the 2.4Ghz band and each DX7 (or DX6) uses 2 frequencies, hence 40 users at a time. They're telling stuff about the frequencies rolling constantly and you can have more than 1 TX using the same frequency, just all kinds of nonsense! They even went so far as to call the tech support line and the guy on the phone told you could have an infinite number or TX on at the same time! When I got home I went on the Spektrum site and printed up a section of the FAQ's and took it down to them! It even mentions the fact that if there are any devices such as wireless routers or the like which are on 2.4 Ghz that it will decrease the available users.
I think what the tech support guy meant was that there could be any number of TX's on at a time w/o causing interference to the guys that are flying, not that all of them could fly at the same time. It just blew my mind that anyone would think something so ridiculous!
