Radio - JR & Spektrum DSM > Bought a DX7. Now , do I sell or do I keep my 9CHPS?

I brecently bought a DX7 radio and I really like it. It doesnt have al the programming my 9C does but its got enough (cant wait for DX9) Question now is, what to do with my 9C and all the receivers that I have for it? If I were to sell them all I could really use some of the money to buy new receivers for the DX7 but for some reason I am afraid of selling all my other radio stuff and going strictly Spectrum, dont know exactly why. Anybdy else feel this way? any ideas? What would (or did) you do?

I also had a 9CHPS and 9 receivers. I now own a DX7 and 9 receivers. I sold the 9CHPS and don't miss it at all. The DX7 becomes second nature to program after you use it for a while.

I would sell your old stuff while you can. There are still people that want it but in a year from now you will have to give it away.

Hi all
I too was torn as to whether to sell my FF9 and recievers. It was a tough decision to make after 3 years of reliable service from such an excellent radio.True the DX7 hasn't got as much as the 9CPH but then who needs 9 channels on a T-rex 600 anyway. I have just done a little customizing job on my DX7, a little weight at the top to make it balance correctly and a little leather covering to make it feel nice.I find the paint finish is a bit slippery in cold weather.
Apart from that I wouldn't go back now, this is the way forward

regards

Al

Hi all,

Intersting post as I have a 9C but have been thinking of getting a DX7 but I love my Futaba stuff so not sure if I should swap over, plus all the talk going about of other manufactors releasing 2.4ghz stuff.

I know the DX7 has enough features as I don't use all on the 9C.

Hmmm decision decisions or do I wait

Simon.

I would get rid of the radio and recievers while they are still worth something!

come spring they will not be worth anything as the new 2.4 radio's will be comming out and I have heard the moduals are still not as fast as the intergraded electronics.
Kinda like the FM only radio's when the new PCM ones came out.

I had a 9CHPS and still have a 12z, just sold the 9CHPS and bought a DX7.
You won’t have any regrets going to a DX7 the difference in programming functions between the two radios isn’t that great that you will miss the 9CHPS.
The 12Z is a different story I am going to hang on to it in the hopes that either Futaba or somebody comes out with a 2.4GHz module or upgrade.

I went DX7, sold my 72mhz gear and have not looked back. I like the new found freedom of not worrying about channels.

I always keep a radio as a spare---particularly if I won't get great money for my backup, but it works great otherwise. If you have a problem with your DX7--how long will warranty service take? Especially since it's new and parts may be hard for service to get their hands on. You could be sol without a backup plan. So I keep one receiver and the radio so that I can always be flying---and sell the other receivers.

Hi Tom

At the price the DX7 is,You could buy two DX7 's for the price of one FF9 it would be just as easy to buy two, then if one breaks down you dont have to change out the reciever.

Would be nice to have two.hehehehe!

I am pleased with mine, I could be twice as pleased.

You're right. I sold my 9c and one receiver for $240. That leaves me out only $80 for a second one. That's a great idea. Personally, I was going to wait for the DX9---then sell my back up and push the DX7 to the back-up slot.

Also sold my 9C with 3 receivers, and I am not looking back. Sell now unless you wan't to keep it when they come up with modules...but once you are familiar with a radio I don't see the reason to keep a back up
People compare the DX-7 programming function with the radio they have, but if you remember when you started in this hobby, every transmitter was complicated..right?
Once you are familiar with your DX7, it is a piece of cake, and anyway when a model is set, you don't go back in there often!
