JR Heli Vibe - Airskipper - Sylphide - Venture > Ergo Long Boom Conversion Belt

I put this request in the T.T. section first but decided it probably made more sense to post it here.

I put a Long Boom conversion kit on my Ergo so I could run the 50 and now I am trying to locate a few spare belts for it. The thing is that it is not the JR Long Boom. The one I got came with a longer orange belt that has the same tooth pitch on it so you didn't have to change your stock plastic pulleys to the fine tooth metal ones like you have to do with the JR one. I had been under the impression that it was just a Raptor 30 tail drive belt but after I tried to install one I realized the stock T.T. Raptor 30 belt is 6.5mm wide and it needs to be 5mm for the Ergo
pulleys. It is the right length and has the same markings on it but is just too wide. The belt is orange and marked [BANDO 630XL] . Anyone else have this same conversion kit that know what the replacement belt part number is and who sells it?

Thanks,

Carl

Hey Beezer,

How are you doing? How is the 8103?? Looked in your gallery.. your helis look great. Where did you get the 1 piece flabar control arm?? Would love to get one for my Ergo. Is that the KSJ part??

Hi Yardy... The 8103 is great. The one piece flybar control arm is from K&S (KSJ) and I bought it from Cyberheli. They had a hard time to find me one but I'm glad they did.

Well I believe I have solved the mystery of the illusive tail drive belt I have been looking for. I went through my spare parts box and found the packaging tag that came with the belt. I know, I know. Should have checked for that first. It turns out that the belt came from Century Helicopters. It is for the Raptor 30 and GPH 46, Part # CNQST19A . I am just waiting for confirmation from Century about the belt width but I am 99% sure this is it.

Once I get a few I can finally convert my second Ergo CCPM to a 50 and sell it.

I did the same conversion. I got the belt from a local Auto parts shop. They have stocked the "un-cut" 630XL belt. It was like 6 inches wide!!! I just told them the width and they would cut it to the spec I wanted. Furthermore the cores of the belt is steel wires instead of nylon.

Only down side was it cost a bomb!!!

I finally ended up making a tool myself to cut about 1.5mm off the wide of the Raptor 30 belt all the way around.

Why do all that BS just to have a one off thing. Now some poor sop that you pawn that thing off onto will up a creek if he ever needs to fix it more than once.

Just buy the pulleys from the Voyager 50. They are the plastic fine tooth ones and are a direct fit to the Ergo.

The part #s are;
960217 - Long TR Belt - $19.79
960190 - Front Pulley - $4.89
960187 - Tail Case Pulley - $8.46

The long boom if you you need it is;
983012 - Long Boom 690mm - $14.89

Well the thing is that I have heard on more than a couple occasions that the fine tooth belt is more prone to skip or strip if the belt comes abit slack. With the regular belt, the belt teeth sit deeper in the pulleys so they are more forgiving not to mention stronger. Anyways why should someone be forced to have to buy a whole new set of pulleys just to do a conversion when there is nothing wrong will the pulleys they have on their machine now. If I were to sell my Ergo long boom heli I would be up front and tell the person about the belt and would provide them with a couple spare belts that have been modified.
You would be surprised how many people are interested in having a belt for their long boom conversion that doesn't required them to change the pulleys. JR should have thought of this before they decided to come out with their long boom conversion with those damn fine belts and pulleys. Just another way of getting you to part with your money. I actually had someone email me asking if I could trim a few belts for him. Just told him to mail me the belts and I would do it. Just had to pay for return shipping.

Hmmmm.... I have the metal boom holder so I've never had the long boom go slack.

I have had it happen on the reqular Ergo short boom and plastic boom holder. A temporary fix for the plastic holder was to apply some battery shrink tubing on the end of the boom with a little CA to hold it on around the alignment grooves. This worked very well and actually would have been a permanent cure had I not wrecked it. When I was rebuilding it and decided to go to the long boom, I aquired a metal boom holder instead.

True. The metal boom holders never go loose by accident. I have both a JR one and a DNHP one.

Bought it from Great Lakes. It is half the price of the JR one and it holds like a rock. I actually have a hard time to even move the boom with the DNHP one even when the screw is loose. (It only used one screw to clamp.) If you look in my gallery you can see it on my Ergo 30 CCPM. I think it only comes in gold anodized.
