And just HOW close is your flying field to the folk with a cordless phone, baby monitor, wireless routers....? Most of those items have a fairly short range to begin with.

On the same street. I had a blade CP equipped with a DX6 and flew it in front of my house up and down the street fifty times at least. I can see as many as 5 other 2.4mhz wireless routers (including my own) from the second floor of my house with my laptop. I have 2.8ghz phones WHICH I HAVE TALKED ON WHILE FLYING LOL. I'm sure there are several other houses on my packed street with 2.8 phones as well.

There just isn't any glitches or issues.

I'm all in. Have a DX-7 now and bought receivers for all my birds - 2 R50s, 2 R90s and a Synergy.

When the 9 channel version shows up I will happily upgrade and hang on to the DX7 as a backup.

10X is up for sale as soon as I can photo it and write it up.

Personally i'm gonna wait for everyone else to upgrade to 2.4Ghz and then enjoy flying on 35Mhz in free in the knowledge of no lockouts hehe.

There isn't a '9ch Specktrum' in development and that's come from the Spectrum makers themselves.

I'd be amazed if it doesn't exist in some form. It's gotta happen, but may not for a while..

Rhett... I can't fly, luckily the HC Profi Can!

I thought Spektrum were linked to JR anyway? If so i'm not surprised they wont make a dedicated futaba radio.

Futaba must do something, 2.4 is the future, maybe they'll affiliate with Xtremepowersystems and produce a Spektrum rival.

Either way, i'll wait till it's all proven and mass market before I bother changing.

rroback,

I'd agree there, but just at the min they are not developing a 9 channel system nor have the got plans too but with such a demand it's only a matter of time.

Here's some links about spread spectrum technology that should clear up a few things:
http://electronics.howstuffworks.com/question326.htm
http://www.tapr.org/ss_intro.html#wiss

It's nothing new; it's just cheaper now. DSS has been around for 40+ years. It is the perfect technology for RC use since it's designed from the ground up to accommodate multiple users in the same band. "They" don't know what the hell "they" are talking about...as usual. Read the facts or listen to conjecture and speculation. It's ultimately your choice.

As for JR Radio and Spektrum, they're already in bed together and have been for quite awhile (considering how long product development takes). It's not something that's come about in the past three or four months. It's pretty obvious since the Spektrum DX7 is a JR7202 with the 2.4GHz radio system. It was a natural match since the 7202 was already frequency synthesized radio that was well proven in the field. Just put the new RF section in it, change some code, and order a new batch of cases from the injection molders. Heck, the DX7 even comes with DS821 servos.

I hadn't looked into the DX7 until I saw the latest issue of RC Heli. Stevie Wonder could tell they're basically the same radio.

Regardless of any public statement issued by the company, there's no way in hell they aren't thinking about the high end market with a 9 (or more) channel radio. There may not be a "9 channel Spektrum" radio in development, but you can't tell me that their engineers just completely stopped thinking when the DX7 was released. Yup, they're now designing lawn sprinkler timers and have given up the RC world completely.

Remember, "no" is always the easiest answer...especially when you're dealing with a rabid group of niche market consumers. It will save a lot of phone calls and emails until the next big thing ships.

Better to say no, than to say your heli will be with you at 3DM 2006 and it still not be available

It will come,,i have a DX7 and there are NO frequency issues at all

Why do people keep worrying about interference from other 2.4gig stuff

How often does your neighbours wireless network interfere with yours,or anybody elses, and how often does a cordless phone get interfered with

Spektrum is totally safe and i have had no problems in any way with mine

Like the Other Fella said the 7202 and the dx7 are the same radio, same with the dx3 and the xr3i, they are the same company, and also at the hobby shop where I work we receive errata sheets from many manufacturers, Its seems they are investigating the market for a higher channel radio.

laddy,

Of course they Do.. but Futaba don't want to undermine there current 'Flag Ship' range as it would upset a LOT of people..

JR on the other hand are still to let loose a new Highend Radio to replace the 10X..

Marketing wise they would be competing with themselves to release a Spektrumised 9X..against the synthised version

Thing is..2.4Ghz is exactly what the market is looking for and NOW..

First to produce 9ch midrange radio on 2.4 gig thats affordable will get to eat the Cake..whether it is Spektrum, JR, or Futaba

I was a bit Skeptical about that...
I was at the AMA show and questioned several people at the JR / Horizon booth and everyone said that they had no Information about a 9 channel 2.4, in the work, rumor or otherwise. From the people I talked to, they were pretty frustrated by all of the 2.4 9ch questions because they have been told nothing.

I'm really sorry to hear that someone has posted info that was/is wrongly associated with you..

Fact is everything we have read we know is hearsay as yet..and I think most of us here are big enough, wise enough to realise this..so please don't take offence

Lets just hope that someone in a high place has there finger on the pulse of what so many of us are looking for and get the job done ASAP

I don't think it's as much the 9 channels, but the better quality programming, nicer case, gimbals, more mixes etc that people are looking for.
The DX7 is okay, but it feels like a cheap radio in you're hands, and there are some programming options missing - like button assignments, inhibiting the silly hover throttle and pitch adjustments, etc
