Flybarless Rotor Head Systems > 2-bladed flybarless helis without electronic flybar systems?

So, what's the deal with those? I know at least one person flies them, I'd like to hear from anyone else who has any experience with them. The main questions I have are:

- What must be done to run a test?

- How much swashplate throw must be used? I know it LESS.

- Is it manageable? Or is it like trying to hold a greased pig?

- What should one watch out for?

I don't know what got into me... I was looking at my Raptor, and I had the bizarre thought that it would be one hell of a challenge to just hover it without the flybar and without the gyro

gigi - you're brave.
Basically hook the bell hiller links to the blade grips either in correcting delta or non correcting whatever is your tipple. The amount of servo movement is about half that of normal so you'r better off placing the ball on the horn at about half distance so as to maintain torque performance - a pivot support is highly recommended.
Basically, you're still looking at similar collective and cyclic inputs to the blades, ie, +/-10 and 7 although without the physical restrictions of the flybar system, the skyes the limit.
Without any gyro help on the cyclic, you'll have to be very alert, particularly in FF or whatever because you'll be WITHOUT ANY STABALISATION, so when the heli starts pitching, clench your buttocks like you've never clenched them before.
No gyro on the tail - raving lunatic

Interesting find

http://www.micom.net/AirWolfRC/NFB.html

I hope AirwolfRC doesn't mind me putting his link here. It was interesting reading about it, and seeing the pictures. I did catch the part about needing a couple of gyros to pull this off.

All right, I admit, I need to find a better way to occupy my time

Reading up the discussion on the electronic flybar is also pretty interesting. It's amazing what the CSM and the Mikado folks are coming up with. For those of us who like to have more parameters to play with, it's looking like there will be more fun in the future.

Now I need to go fix my raptor's woofing, among other things.
