Hmm, I cant believe nobodys considered someone might have stolen the heli, and thrown it over the hedge where it was found for whatever reason?? Maybe it should be handed to the local police?

Look at this, the heli was found out of fuel, If a heli has been flying long enough to run out of fuel, with NOBODY AT THE CONTROLS, that thing must have run out of fuel at some hell of an altitude. Yet the gent who found it describes it as having

Thumbs up!

Harvey, good luck trying to find the owner. If it were me, I'd write you out a check for a fancy dinner in a nice restaurant in town for you and your wife and kids, if applicable.

Guys, a raptor flying at 40-50 mph for 10-12 minutes will cover between 6 and 10 miles, more with a tail wind That's a 25 mile radius it could have come from.

If the owner isn't on RR, Harvey deserves to keep the machine, and the former owner can be thankful it didn't chop anybody's head on its way down. And Harvey, if you do end up keeping it, make sure tp buy a complete heli transmitter, install the receiver and battery, and do tape the crystal in place just to be sure it doesn't fly away again

Good luck with the search,

Gigi

My heli spending has gone way down since I got a Honda 919 :-)

Raptors fall out of the sky all the time. I have a couple in my trees right now but I'm just too lazy to climb up and get them.

hrvestuff,

On the outside chance that the owner complied with AMA regulations (if he was an AMA member) , have you checked inside the heli for any information that would ID the owner ?? Such as name, AMA number ???

The info could be on a sticker under the receiver (radio tray) or someplace else on the model....usually under the canopy.....

I looked up a site called Mapmuse.com and they showed two rc clubs within ten miles from El Cajon CA.They even have the phone numbers on these clubs. It may be worth a try.

Harvey,

I wouldn't take the negative attitudes too personally, it is just that in the RC Community, there have been many rip-offs and scams that have occurred via eBay and RC forums.

If everything is on the up and up, what you are doing is great. You don't see this to often. Unfortunately, the person who lost it may be scared to death that something did happen and that he may get in trouble. (or he may just be plain stupid or wealthy).

Good luck in finding the rightful owner, and if not, definitely make some money off your find.

Lost bird

Duane and All;

I am not taking the negative responses to our effort to locate the owner of the lost bird to seriously.. Not being a part of the RC community, I was unware that there are scammers in this neck of the woods . Of the dozens upon dozens of E-mails I have recieved only two (2) reek of someone trying to "scam" this search with weak or false claims of ownership. And one of them just might own or know who owns it. To this date the right answers or proper description has not been forthcoming. Anyway, it is great to find that there are truly some great people out there in your world of the RC sports.

I hope you didn't take my responses as negative. Usually I'm trying to be funny without much luck. Although I did find the speculative "negative" post to be a very real possibility it is great to hear that you are sincerely looking for the owner with only the best intentions. Best of luck with the search.

your doing a great job dont let other people put you down. Most would just run greedly and try to sell! its nice to see people like this after all the talk about helis stolen... You have tried hard to find the rightfull owner anf if he doesnt show up soon then i think you deserve to sell it and get the money for trying hard!

Lost Raptor

No success yet in finding the real owner. Over 3000 hits on the two Ebay listings and 46 emails of which five people claimed the heli, but they had forgotten what frequency channel they were using, couldn't remember the gyro number, etc etc. Time is running out. If no success by the 26th of January, I will list it on Ebay as an auction item, and spend whatever I get for beer or something.

Once again, you are doing a very noble service here. Hope my Raptors all land in your hedge! You win an automatic spot on the GoodGuy list here.

Can you believe the nads some people have. You should have told them it was all theirs and lured them into a paintball gauntlet.

Good luck,

Thanks for doing a "good thing".

As a suggestion for you to keep this act of good intent going how about this for the auction proceeds.

You keep a fair "finders fee" out of the proceeds and enough to cover your time/hassle to list/ship.
Then you donate the rest to the local R/C club for the purchase of a training aircraft?
This way your kindness continues on for the future.

Or the other suggestion is you just donate the entire helicopter to the nearest club that will put it to use as a training aircraft.

Just some suggestions mind you either way you have done a good job of trying to return it.

Thanks
