Gohbee Aviation Stinger 30-90 > High-altitude .30?

I have a Kyosho Concept 30 which I'm retiring and am looking into a Gohbee Stinger as a replacement. I want to stay with the .30 size, mainly for transportation and storage reasons (small car, very small storage area).

My question is, what mods -- if any -- would you recommend for high-altitude flying with a Gohbee .30? I live at 5000 feet. The Concept 30 performed fine on a TT .39 (for what it is: a real cruise-around sort of heli, no extreme aerobatics), but I'm concerned that it may not be enough for the 3D maneuvers I've been trying to perfect on my T-Rex.

Longer blades? Go to a .50 instead? A .60 or .90 is right out, those are way too big to fit in my little 2-seater Honda Insight And way too expensive to equip, too... I'd like to start with my existing standard servos, and upgrade to larger digitals as I see a need, rather than needing to upgrade to beefy servos right off the bat.

TIA for your advice!

You could put a 50 engine in the 30, I think you just have to change gearing.

Since you are looking at a new heli the 50 will perform much better at high altitude than the 30 did.

I have never flown at high altitude so I Can't give an accurate comparison.

Thanks for the tips! I'd love to keep the same engine and servos from the C30, but maybe it's time to retire them to something else.

I have had the 30's and the 50's and as much as the 30 is fun I must say the 50 size Helli is the bonus for me. As I have a few of them and enjoy the power and performance. It makes new maneuvers far more easy to learn. Thanks for the space to to express my opinion Mike

30 or 50...

The 50 sized heli will not be that much bigger than the 30. I have a Nissan 200SX that I carry my heli's to the field with (when I can't use my Explorer and trailer) and I can get both in the back seat. If you know anything about the back seat of that car, it's not really all that big. If you have the means go with the 50 sized heli, you'll be more than glad you did. Like Mike Lewis says, it'll just do everything better than the 30. Not that my 30's aren't fun, but I've gotten allot of fun out of my 50 heli and I can also see it better.

Later...

Scott!
