keeping my DX7

When the 9-10 comes out I will get it... and use it for my helis...
the 7 will be relegated to planks.. I want a cyclic ring on my heli version and not for planks

Unless one of you out there has devised a removable cyclic ring for the DX7... it that case... Im listening

BTW.... DX9 is on it's way.... get ready to sell your DX7

Nope. I'm buying a DX9 and keeping the DX7 as a backup.

I learned my lesson this year when I had to run out and by a 7202 as a backup after I damaged my 10X and it was down. I do s#1tloads of flying and can't go without a TX.

Plus, the when the DX9 comes out the DX7 can live tied to the SIM

When you fly, do you look at the transmitter? Who really cares what the tx LOOKS like setting on the workbench. Isn't it most important how the transmitter performs? And that is where everyone seems quite happy with the DX7.

Now "feel" (not look) is 100% personal and no one tx will ever please everyone. Personally, I find the gimbal feel of the DX7 is pretty darn good, very smooth. I don't care a whole lot about switch placement other than flight mode and throttle hold. I don't use any other switches in flight anyways.

As long as the owners are satisfied, that's what the industry will design. Most importantly is how well it performs and how durable it is.

I just replaced my 9C with a DX7.
Can not believe the difference. The response is so much quicker and crisper than my 9c.
Sure, it hasn't got all the bling like some of the more expensive radios. But so what??

I guess all I'm saying is it would be nice to have the quality and features of the 9C in the 2.4Ghz xmit.

I'd rather have the quality and features of the 9303 in 2.4 GHz. Hehe, back to Futaba vs JR.

Same idea. I don't JR/Futaba cause I really don't have enough radio experience between brands. I can tell levels of engineering and product.

Our DX9 is coming - It's just coming from the opposite direction than you're used to -

For once all us cheap bastards get the technology first instead of just the wealthy elite - Anyone that can afford a radio at all can afford a DX and have the technology now rather than years later when it's trickled down and still at a hefty premium over the old technology -

The middle of the road wait is still the same but at least we can have it now if we want it now with a DX6/7 which is plenty sufficient to relieve us of our old technology woes -

The DX6 got me through all of last year blissfully glitchless and I think it was a super bargain - My DX6 is now dedicated to sim'ing and I expect my DX7 to get me through at least another year of DSM bliss before feeling the need to upgrade to a DX9 and I feel it's the same super bargain I had with my DX6.

I don't know how you guys can go to such a lame xmitter compared to the higher end units. It looks cheap, the switches look cheap and the graphics on the screen look cheesy.

Oh well like I said before, the more people go with DX7's the less I need to be concerned with frequencies.

All my helis are synth so channel changes are no biggy.

Although you seem like a reasonable guy from your other posts, this one shows some ignorance. (as in you have not flown a DX-7 yet) Yes it is less of a radio no doubt but I was very surprised at how nice the switches feel (as in high quality) and also how nice the screen is. My guess is that you are refering to the DX-6 which is not nearly as nice as the DX-7. I get to use a 9303 on a regular basis and my old radio is an 8103 so maybe I too am "ignorant" of how nice your 12Z is.

I'm not using my 12Z as a reference. I had a 9C prior and kinda comparing it to what the DX6 looks like and the pictures of the crude graphing even on the DX7.

My problem is I like precision quality stuff. Including the graphical display size and resolution of the display. I understand you don't get that for $300. You're right I should keep my nose out of it. It's like anything, people don't like criticism, sometimes any kind. I tell it like I see it. Sometimes I'm wrong and sometimes people get mad. So be it.

So in a nutshell, the technology is great, the radio is mediocre.

I apologize if I hurt anyones feelings or come off sounding ignorant.

I had a 9c...

I don't think the resolution of the screen is that different.. if at all the 9c's was smaller in height..

Now wait a minute. I have used MANY 9C units and it as far as I remember the display resolution is only 128 x 64.

I believe the DX7 is the same. I can't verify it but I'm betting your are thinking about a 6102 which is pretty crusty.

Even so, the day that some kid nearby with his new Blade CP has your $2000 heli locked out remind youself "thank God I have a few extra pixels!"

Hootowl,

You aren't going to make anyone mad but read your own comments.

You are commenting on something to have only seen in pictures and your perceptions are not valid.

We are not mad at you. We just can't understand why you would get on here and make yourself look silly (i am being nice in my choice of words).

I'll get a DX9 if and when I ever have a need for nine channels. Seven is more than enough for me in the foreseeable future.

Concerning my original post--the trainer switch is cheap and awkward--not something I want to use to train others with. I'll probably wait for a DX9 and hope it is better. I was going to buy it, but can't live with that issue. It is a personal thing, since I like an easily accessible momentary switch for training that is not awkward.

Other JR radios don't have this brain damaged trainer switch--I think it is just their 7-channel radios, but I'm not postitive. Hopefully they don't make that mistake on the DX9.

Everything else seemed fine to me with the radio. It is light, but that is probably a good thing.

The DSS technology is great! I have switched all my RC cars and Airtronics wheel radios to it via plug-in Spektrum modules. Funny that they make modules for the wheel transmitters but not the airplane transmitters.

You know, if the trainer switch is really so bad that it's a deal-breaker, you could just buy a switch for $5 at the local electronics shop and install it anywhere you like.

Besides, the guy using the trainer switch is supposed to be the expert.
