It's been posted in Century's site but for those who haven't seen it, checkout http://www.centuryheli.com/products/helikits/cn1020_hummingbird/index.htm. They have a new electric helicopter and I don't think anyone can beat the price. I went to their store to place an order and heard they already have a large back order.

Hope you enjoy Chinese knock-offs. This is nothing more than a poorly executed copy of a Piccolo. Go to e-bay and you can see the same heli listed as a Feda or a Skylark or a Handy EP. You would be better off buying a Piccolo Fun, at least you could get spare parts. This is not a "Century" product. I for one am amazed that Century, after years of struggling to get a "rep" of a quality product, is now going to flush it all for this piece of cr*p. Do a search on Century new helicopter here and see some other opinions. And yes I have one so it's not speculation or rumor. It's junk.

Flyer, I am pretty sure you are wrong.

I don't know anything about that Handy EP thing that's being sold on ebay, but I was just at Helicopter World last week and they haven't started shipping it yet. Don't know how you could have one.

All they had was a prototype display model of the Hummingbird. I used to own a Piccolo and Hornet. As far as I could tell, the Hummingbird's construction looked much better than the Piccolo. The rotor head looked much sturdier parts-wise.

Personally, I think all the micro's are cheap pieces of cr*p. However, at least with the Hummingbird, it's priced more accordingly :-)...

Free country, free speech. Buy it and regret it. You do sound a lot like someone who never figured out the setup on a micro. So from your point of view it's all about how much money you threw away. What a shame to give up so easily and over money too.

hunh?

No need to get your dander up. I was just wondering how you could have a Hummingbird when: a) they aren't shipping yet, and/or b) how you know that what Century is selling is the same as the ebay stuff you mention?

As far as the insinuation that I don't know how to properly set up a micro: hunh? You got all that from my last post did you? Bravo, wrong again. Why you felt the need to bring assumptions about my skills into question I don't understand...

Anyway, Boyd, apparently your word is gospel. Sorry I said you might be wrong...

Hello Edg

I know a micro(I can only speak for my own and the few that I have setup) is no Joker but if it is setup well it is definitally crap--well.....they tend to need mods and the best micro technology but still...

I fly my hybrid micro(took flybar weights off):

http://rcgallery.net/showphoto.php?...rt=1&thecat=500

all the time and it is really solid for its size and weight, even in the wind.

You have your own opinion but mine is that you can make a heli of any size fly very well including a micro.

Carlo,

Well, maybe I was a bit harsh saying cr*p. But, the micro's certainly aren't for everyone. I tried. I had a Hornet and Piccolo. They flew. They frequently went out of alingment. They crashed. I glued. I bought upgrades. I did mods. They flew a little more...

When I finally realized how much they were costing me, how much time I spent fiddling vs. flying, ... well the kicker for me was buying a "crash kit" for the Hornet. About $20 for a few carbon fiber twigs. I said to myself "this is silly" and sold them both.

With everything I shelled out for these 2 little micro's and thier accessories, I could have had a really NICE larger electric or nitro. Just my experience. I just didn't enjoy the novelty of having a teeny-tiny little helicopter enough to justify the cost...

So yeah, I do feel like I threw money away on these. Give up too easily? Nope. Just stopped the bloodletting and recouped what I could to put into an Eco -- which flies like a dream compared to the Piccolo or Hornet.

I personally flew the Hummingbird at the AMA show this past weekend, and it is definitely not crap. I was very impressed with how well it flew, and how stable it was. Also, the construction was very solid. I witnessed a moderate crash resulting in no damage to the heli. I have flown pretty much every microheli that is available on the market including modified ones, and this ranks up there for a fixed pitch heli.
