I recently purchased a used Benzine Trainor that has never flown. It came 90% complete but missing the instruction manual for the RC230 engine. I can see how the main fuel line connects between the tank and the engine and the filler line is OK - but where does the other connection on the tank go to (do gassers have a back pressure tap)?

Also how do I know if the RC230 is an old or new one, it looks like the engine shown on Vario's web site but it does not have the red/silver label on it and all I can find is a serial number.

On the fuel tank is three nipples. The one with the clunk goes to the outlet on the back of the carb for feed, the line with the tubing just going to the bottom of the tank is the return which is on the front lower part of the carb, and the third line should have a fuel line attached to it which goes a little higher than the carb and back down below the carb. This line is left open, as it is to allow air into the tank since the carb is pumped. Not a pressure line. With the new G230, there is no external ignition module, and the emergency shut off is built into the shroud and is usally yellow in color.

fueling

joe,

how do you fuel the helicopter with this set up?

i was going to use the line to the bottom of the tank as the filler line and put a fourt nipple at the top of the tank for the overflow. will this work or do i need to put the overflow into the fuel?

any alternatives.

I use a Dubro in line gas filler valve. Then you do not have to play with pulling lines apart at the filter to fill it up. Just cut the line to the carb, and install. It shuts fuel flow off to the carb while refueling, and when you remove the fuel probe, restores flow to the carb.

Tee your fill line into the line on the front of the carb.

fueling wars

happy new years.

o.k guys. now i am more confused than ever.

are vario and moore saying he same thing, or something different. i understand one says use the dubro filler and the other says use a tee.

the issue is whether you attach it to the carb intake or overflow. does it matter?

for what it is worth, the the dubro will work well when the benzine goes in the hughes 500 fuse. the tee is simpler, and less likely to break.

thanks again.

Using the Dubro filler eliminates any chance of flooding the carb.
