what is so special about the CF tail fins for 3D will they help in fbf.
I still use the stock fins and it tends to make the tail dive so I can't go as fast as I would like to. So will new fins help?

Just toss out the horizontal fin altogether....It doesn't do anything but look good (static). It will cause porpoising during fbf.

I have no fins on my r30 (the t/r clearnce is protected by a post), less fin makes a big difference. thats all a 3-d fin is, something still visible, but not really there.

backwards flight with a fin is like shooting an arrow backwards. the fins reduces performance. It took me a little while to get used to no fins, but its more fun now.

Wire Tail guide

A wire guide would be advisable... the kind like the Lamma or Alouette II. Protect tail rotors from striking the ground.

oh yeah the "post" has a curvy hooyah from a coathanger at the bottom (an important point I failed to mention, oops).
You want to have some kind of curve back there, even a ping pong ball! I've autoed it hard a few times and its all ok. wouldnt recommend it if you use fins to see a heli cuz its only 1/4" thick.

the post itself is a cut-down kitespar with two birch dowel "caps". you can drill the mount holes thru the spar thru top cap and attach a wire or small ball to the bottom.

its funny looking but it didnt cost a dime if you got any spars lying around and it can take a lot of punishment.
