Is it possible to go 3mm tailshaft with the narrow box style tail? I got one of the very first HDX300 "full kits".

GAHH!!! Someone call 911!! My wallet is bleading heli parts!!

Let me know how it goes. I have put this thing mostly togeather but when everybody started having problems I decided to buy a Trex to fly. I have been waiting for all the bugs to get worked out to finish it and I think now is the time. I want to do the 3mm eshaft tail and main shaft. I have a Himax 2025 4200kva, CC PHX25, and some FP 3S1200mah just itching to be used.

New Motor

I decided to try out this Fiegao 4125 that I got cheap on eBay.

This thing ROCKS!

I had to move down to a 8t pinion, it was just to much with a 9th, and I still not taking the throttle curve to the max

The major improvement is it is alot smoother, and hovers better. I was also able to decrease my pitch curve

This thing just keeps getting better.

New Motor

By the way, are in runners typically smoother, or is it just tht the HDX motor isn't that great to begin with?

tony would love to know more about that motor you got, how many turns does it have if you know also, i think most of the vibrations in this heli is from the hdx300 outrunner. the hdx outrunner is pretty powerfull little motor but none to smooth. would love to replace it with a real smooth inrunner let me know
thanks

Brushless motor

Hi Zac
Here is the link for the manufacturers datsheet page

http://www.feigao.com/sdp/85838/4/cp-102738.html

looks like its 22 turns, 10 amps, 4255 kv

I don't know alot about motors, but I won it (new) on eBay for 16 bucks

What a difference!

tony is it a ton smoother than the hdx motor? my heli seems to fly well with little vibrations then suddenly tail vibrations on the vertical fin and tail push rod and i am getting real tired of it. i had the thing almost perfect until it went in with the old bent main shaft problem, since then your new shaft is great but can not get rid of the tail vibrations. maybe this motor solves all maybe

motor

Hi Zac
I have always had some vibration on the lower end because I could never get the main belt pulley to run totally true. I always assumed the vibration was just from that

I honest can not believe how smoothly it takes off and hovers now. Only thing is, the shaft on that new motor is a 2mm, so I used one of the eFlite press on pinions from a stock motor. 9 tooth was way to crazy for me, ended up going to an 8 tooth AND reducing my pitch

I am still unly going up to 90% on my throtthle curve, and could probably cut the pitch back even more.

It just seems to me that running an out runner like the HDX300 only amplified any vibrations I already had

I know ARISTO1963 is also running an inrunner (eFlite 4200kv) so it would be interesting to get his take on it too.

For the small investment I made on that motor, it was a BIG improvement!

i think you are right about the outrunner, the inrunner will probally be better with the vibrations so i will give one a try. would like to hear ARISTO1963 take on inrunners and the hdx300
thanks

Sweet success

I finally just made the first successfull flight of MiniRex, my Blade CP Pro/Compy 300/HDX 300/J-Team hybrid

Completely assembled from various bits of a lot of different Heli's this was a HUGE challenge to work out all the bugs to the point where it could be flown without something going haywire. It's still not 100%, and there's still lots of room for improvement, but I'm thrilled that it really flies.

The key to being able to get off the ground with sufficient power is the ejector rod mainshaft. I was able to go back to the 10 tooth pinion that I originally started out with and spin it up without the shaft bending before it got off the ground. I had dropped back to an 8 tooth, but it was so far down on power I wasn't able to get more than a few feet in the air, no problem now! Even had it tip over and touch a rotor blade to the ground when the head was spinning down, no damage at all. That would have been fatal to a non-ejector rod mainshaft.

Now I can concentrate on improvements rather than fixes...

I learned to fly on a Trex, I learned to crash on a Blade CP...

Is the HDX300 or Microheli cnc parts best?

Drugs? RC Helicopters? What's the diffrence?

as far as im concerned inrunner is the only was to go on these helis.smooth and powerful.i use the eflight park400 4200 kv on a 10 tooth pinion.headspeed is about 3000rpm tail is 11000 on the 40t taildrive.it is off the ground just over half throttle and a missle at full throttle.

bundy i really prefer the tx hdx300 head it is smooth as silk when you get it set up correctly.as far as mh ive heard good and bad,its more a personal thing, plus the cost is high.

rc how did those bent shafts work out or did plastixs just replace them?i called linda at plastixs and she told me that anyone who gets new bent ones just has to contact them for a no hassle replacement.

oh and the company owner i was told is loving how we are using the rods, and has had the stock of metric 3-2mm increased(yes they have sold alot of them)

I haven't had a chance to get over there yet, probably should this coming week. Two of them are good enough to use, two are definitely unacceptable. The one I'm running right now has about the same runout as a stock shaft and it doesn't seem to matter once it's spun up.

I'm using a Trex tail assembly, so there's no worries about that end, the mainshaft has been the problem. The combination of parts I'm using means I can only get 1 usable shaft out of a 200 mm rod, the remainder isn't long enough to make another for MiniRex. I figure I'll get another MicroHeli auto rotation maingear for the CP Pro and make the leftovers into mainshafts for it, shouldn't ever bend another one once I do that

Just went out and flew it again, flight characteristics are somewhere in between the CP Pro and the Trex 450 SE, I think it will be a fun little flier once I get it dialed in better and stop worrying if something's going to break.

I have the HDX300 with the V1 head, I just ordered 2 of the 200 mm shafts, the last shaft I bent was 90mm. That sound right? I used a CD rom shaft, it was pretty and straight but bent just as easy. My delivery date was 5/1 from Plastix.

i was told they have started keeping 50 at a time due to the amount of orders coming in and the fact there is a 2 week delay to get them from the maker.this is very unusual for an american mold supplier ,as we very seldom use metric in our molds.i believe they used to stock 7 or 10 of each, until the "heliboys"got to them lol.when i called monday in the am they already had 7 orders waiting for pickup.
