ok here is the latest update on the sx tail i am converting for ducati rider.it can and has been converted to a 3mm tail im posting pics of the tail assembly.it is all hdx tail case and slider, but i did have to use trex grip and slider assembly from the new v2.im also using a trex shaft and pinion.use the 40t drive gear to make up the 2 extra tail teeth.I still have to loktite the bolts and am going to install it on my own hdx to spin it up to check its stability.the pitch is pretty insane should be a great piro bird.

Dumb question. What is a HDX300? It looks like a highly modified Blade CP.

This is what it is now, previously more like a collection of parts that you could make into a complete Heli. There are some issues with the strength of some of the stock components, mainly the mainshaft and tailshaft, see the postings about ejector rod mainshafts etc...

I learned to fly on a Trex, I learned to crash on a Blade CP...

John,

You are the greatest! Thanks for the offer, but I am actially pretty happy with the 2mm tail. I believe the bugs are worked out now with the Ejector Rods and it really flies well. The only reason I am selling is I am not getting enough flight time on my other Helis.

Thanks again for the offer.

Did you have any tail heavy balance issues with the 3mm tail? I would be interested in a 3mm tail if it can be done to a narrow box tail.

GAHH!!! Someone call 911!! My wallet is bleading heli parts!!

Cool. I'm in then. Do you have a step by step of what needs to be done? A list of Trex parts maybe? Will the HDX belt fit on the Trex tail shaft belt gear?

Tail

I have the narrow metal tail w/ the 2mm Ejector rod and am quite happy with it as well. I don't fly hard 3D though.

Ejector pin main shaft.

I just got my HDX300 put back together with the ejector pin main shaft. It spins really well, I'm happy. I just spun it up in the house, pulled it up to a hover about 2 inches off the ground... Sweet!!. Can't fly outside today, too windy, but when I do, I'm gonna try not to fly it into the ground for a while.

Also, for the tail shaft, I'm using a old-style HB King main shaft and tail blade holders, It's a tadd too long, but works fine, it's 2mm. I just happen to have it lying around and thought it looked better than the one that came wiht the HDX plastic tail.

OK........I'm still fairly new at this, so.......what's an ejector pin main shaft? Maybe it's the terminology I'm not used to.

And does Plastix have a web site?

BTW.......my Mini-Rex looks awesome! But the tail wags something fierce! lol

I'll fly this thing eventually!

So much sky.......so little money........

You will also need 1.55mm carbide bits, which you can buy at drillcity.com

Get the ten pack, they are cheap (8 bucks) and you will need them

You should get the 3 X 250mm shafts from plastixs. get a few, they are also cheap

after you cut and drill them (be patient with the drilling), you will need to polish them down so they fit smoothly into the bearings. I do this by putting them in my drill press, and holding an extra fine polishing cloth on them.

it is WORTH the effort. I wated lot of time and money on the stock shafts.

even though I made several shafts, I am still using the same one, these things are tough!

I was flying mine around the yard this morning, mighty fine!
