with help from others, and some trial and error... here is what the manual for the prog-card does not tell you:

1) turn on tx
2) turn on rx
3) connect flight battery.
4) connect jazz to prog-card.
5) connect rx to prog-card.
6) if the LED's don't now show you the program settings...unplug and replug the rx to the prog-card. (the odd time i had to repeat step 6)

Ahhhh so you need to connect the Throttle Ch off your Rx to the BAtt terminal on the Prog Card?

Also how do you set the end points on the card!?
Plug a lead into the Throttle channel on the Rx and then onto the Batt terminal on the Prog card?

Now that people had successfully program the Power Jazz. Can someone please post a step-by-step simplified procedure to do it. I am, too, a new owner of the Power Jazz ESC.

Thanks

yep, that will be most helpful ... step by step

but i did find out that my version of jazz 55-10-32 will not work yet, until i upgrade to a version 8.0 (but it took me a long time to figure that out - just not enough data online)

Thanks Aftica. I should receive the pro-card today, and will give it a try. I can't wait to get my MPXL-E in the air.

Just another take on things

Hi folks, like a couple of you guys I plugged in my battery to the card then the drive, had the whole thing illuminated and then they all went out.... nothing else happened so next day I called the Jazz helpdesk...

I had already gone through the auto set up on my heli ( this is set out in the 63v papers... push throttle to full and connect the power batteries for a second or two then drop throttle to off position... disconnect flight batteries then turn Rx off. Put Rx on again and the ESC knows where the high and low are.
The ESC was supposed to arrive with a set of parameters selected as per 63v papers again but mine seamed to be in fast start not soft...

Real nice guy there told me

1. Plug in 4 cell battery ( was quite specicic about this and as I use a regulator I asked if this was ok... he again told me BATTERY ) so I tried my regulator output and its fine at the moment but, by the book.....4 cell Rx type battery

2. connect ESC lead to the card

3. Connect flight power battery to ESC ( now here I did diconnect motor just in case )

To get the softest start I set governor mode and sellected 10s ( ten second ) as the time in which to achieve this spool up and this was again at the Kontronic guys advice... then he said just set the desired speed by selecting the appropriate head speed by flat lining your idle up 1 state, and using a tacho and thats it....

So today I go and set up the governed state....

Damned thing sounds awesome... I have fitted a 12s set up to my Zero G 600EP... should be .......great... will keep updating as I find out more and need to use the card more....

Cheers all Gary in Bulgaria

I have to purchase another program card from Espritmodel abd that will take a week. The one I bought from FXmodel is missing the light bulbs on the Active RPM control on 12S and on the Fixed stick positions.

Without these lights to change the default program, my PJ only run at one speed and that is full throttle.

On top of that I have to send the POS to Canada for repair. I am not happy with this deal.

I appreciate your post aftica.
I thought my progcard was broken, and I didn't bother to return it.
And now I programmed my power jazz just the way I wanted.
Thanks.

Thanks Aftica and thanks Garyinbg for the softest start. Just as a 55-10-32 in Heli mode
I received my Power jazz today and I thought during 5 minutes that I will have to deal with the not really smooth start setted by default for the PJ. And suddenly, I find out this post

I have successfully used the ProgCard and got all the settings as I want them.

I am having the problem that I only have one speed. Wide open throttle. It spools up super smooth and that is very nice but once it goes, it goes to wide open with no adjustment in between.

What do I do to fix this?

Lou

Lou,
What are you as the throttle input? Throttle channel and throttle curve? If so, then you need to lower your the throttle "curve" until it starts coming down in RPM. Use the level of the "curve" to set the headspeed you want.

Hi Lou, as John says sounds like you need some prelim settings in your throttle curves.
If you know how to do this great if not I hope this helps.
1. set throttle channel end points to 100 / 100
2. set Normal curve from 0% up to 60% when stick around 30% throttle then level at 60% all the way across to stick at 100% throttle
3. Set idle 1 to 75% flat across from throttle stick input 0 to 100% stick input
4 set idle 2 as above but maybe 80% flac across whole input range.

If this makes no sence please let me know and I'll draw a couple of pics

With the powerjazz in Gov mode this will work well

5) connect rx to prog-card.??

I have been trying to get my progcard to work, but get just LED's all lighting up then going out. I have tried several times to do as stated in this thread, but no luck. In step 5 I am suppose to connect my RX battery direct?

Thanks,
JD

Nevermind, I got it to work, after 2 days of trying everything else! I found out that the Kontronik's progcard will NOT work with a 5 cell reciever battery, it MUST be a 4 cell reciever battery only.

This Jazz 63v is actually going in a 40" fast electric catamaran with a Lehner 2280/10 on 10S, since I blew up my other esc.

Hi, got my powerjazz and program card today, but after reading the poor manual and the posts here im still confused about throttle settings.

If youre gonna put a rx battery to the progr card, and the esc plug into the other, how can it read the stick movements/position then if not connected to the rx system?
The tx throttle channel are now empty since the esc cable are going in to the progr card instead of the rx

Never argue with an idiot, he'll drag you down to his level and beat you with experience...

daytona beach... the esc wire connects to the prog card. the other prog card terminal connects to the throttle channel on the rx.
(the rx battery should already be connected to a spare rx channel.)
