| I had one sitting around for years (always thinking of sticking it on top of an xcell to see if I can fly it any better than the last time I tried back in '89).
I just sold it to a friend a few weeks ago for $75 who collects GMP (and just about any other brand. I know he has at least two complete flybarless heads and one complete legend kit. I'll pass the word to him that you're looking and who knows, he may look you up, although as a consumate collector who actually flies his collections of some 20+ year old helis, I don't think he ever sells anything. He could very easily make you the parts needed to convert a standard GMP pro or custom head to a legend head, and all you'd have to do is get the anodizing right. He does that kind of stuff for fun as a substitute 747-400 captain with plenty of time (and hobbies). You should see the steam engines this guy makes.
I also have another acquiantance that has aflybarless legend that flew great until he crashed a few years ago, and I will ask him next time I see him if he's willing to part with it, but I probably won't see him until spring, or possibly at one of the auctions and swapmeets coming up in February. He found that with a 9Z radio and lots of mixing and expo, the flybarless head could be made to fly 3d with a certain amount of authority. It certainly is light enough even compared to a Fury. Imagine what it would be like with an 80 or 91 stuffed in it!.
Fifteen Years ago a friend of mine put an OS 91 fourstroke into a GMP Competitor Pro and even though the OS 91 is way underpowered compared to the YS 91's that I was flying for much of the late 90's, his 91 legend had plenty of guts and was wilder than the Tazmanian devil on crack. It was the first heli I saw fly inverted or saw a full autorotation. (he still flies 'the switch' as of the last time I saw him fly.
There is one one Mark and some call you an ass (just kidding, I'm just repeating what you said, and I have the ultimate respect for you and especially your southern hospitality and cooking skills). |
