Has anyone encountered a problem where the heli loses power on one rotor ? Mine has been good for the last year or so and was tuned up fine, last session it started a yaw to the left which grew worse. Now it runs unevenly at mid power (like it has the wah wah's!) - seems to smooth out at full power, but will piro uncontrollably at lift off. I haven't been brave enough to try a launch at full power.

Any guesses - speed controller or motor ???

Sometimes the lower blade slides up a bit and it can't grip onto the blade anymore, so the lower blade will just slide around the shaft while the top blade spins, causing the helicopter to piro really fast. Just slide the blade down until it's in the center of the slots on the lower shaft. Sometimes if it's really worn out, I put a drop of CA glut to keep it from sliding up.

Take Care,
Cheers, Patrick

elicopter, I have carbon blades on my XRB and it flies well. The blades don't touch or break. They are strong but really stiff. I think it flies better side to side with the foam blades, because the carbon blades are so stiff it wobbles if you go quickly from side to side. Other then that it flys around nice and you don't have to replace blades. It also has an awesome climb rate, if your not careful it will hit the ceiling or stretch the cord too far.

Help

I have a XRB Lama and the problem I am having is you can be hovering and all at once it starts a slow piro to the left and you can feed all the right you want and it won't stop and till you set it down and lift it back up to a hover and after about 30 seconds it does it again.

Anyone having this problem and if so any ideas how to fix it.

How to change mode 1 to mode 2

Hey guys, today a friend bring me a Piccolo and a Hirobo XRB lama that he get from Honk kong to help him.

This thing has the throtle on the other side of the remote.

Do you know what to do in order to have the throttle and rudder on the left? As we usually fly

Do I have to open it and change the joystic of position??? I know how to solder But is there is a easy way???

THX

I have no idea ?I have never opened up the transmitter on the XRB. It might be possible to switch over the wires and make it into a mode 2? Try it out and see if it works. Let us know if it worked or not. This could be interesting.

cute little bugger

Well finally i broke down and got one of these. Nice change of pace from glow. I like it much better than a sim for nose in, and slow piro's. Priced about 50$ too much as far as iam concerned.. but oh well, it does buy some nice grins on the face! And...... no batteries to recharge. Neighbors come out thinking its a big moth

my wifes cooking is so bad, the flies are sewing the holes in the screen door

help! lose cyclic control

i'm flying and suddenly i totally lost the cyclic control, luckily i land it without crashing, and if i try the cyclic control, the servo won't move at all, then i lift the lama and move around, somehow the cyclic control is back again, i think maybe there's sth wrong the the IC control board inside.

Anyone has the similar problem? it's now happening once a while, i'm scared not to fly high anymore.

Mini Lama XRB

I was always having problems with G2, could never get the hang of it. I got my XRB and in about two hours practice, have it hovering fairly nice tail in. After the fourth day I'm hovering at all positions and now I have a much better feel for the G2 simulator too. This is the first heli I've flown, and though a little pricey, I liked not having to worry about batteries or fuel. Plug it in fly 15-20 minutes, then go back anytime for more. It does have problems of yawing after you run it say more than 10 minutes, and sometimes will not piro left with full stick deflection. If you let it rest a minute, it seems to cure itself. I like it very much, pretty fun, and glad I bought it. If you really bang the cyclic full deflection, seems to bust the lower blades, guess they are contacting the top blades when you do so. If you can't get the hang of G2 , this will give real lessons to build on.

I had a XRB Lama and got bored after a few weeks. They are great for people wanting to learn to hover or learn nose in as they do fly exactly like the IC versions. Personally, I thought the Lama was better than a sim but there is only so much you can do with it!

XRB Mini Lama parts

Any idea where to get parts other than blades? I need skids - and everyone who sells parts for the mini say they can not get them (out of stock). What can I do - not much good with broken skids.

cycleman,
First off welcome to runryder. Take some time to fill out your profile so we can tell where you are located. This will help us offer suggestions as to where the best places to get the parts you need. If these parts are on back order from Hirobo and on one has them in stock there won't be much you can do. You could try posting an ad in the classifieds to see if anyone has any they will sell you.

another option is to make your own landing gear
I used .06 carbon fiberrods and 20lb woven impregnated fishingline to make a strong springy and removable landing skids. Hang'em high kite store is where I got all the necessary materials

Lama XRB Probs

Hi people!,

Hope one of you knowledgeable lot can help me out with my hopefully temporarily disabled Lama!!

I don't know if it is just me having bad luck but this is my 2nd!!, I went and brought the 1st from my local model shop last week, rushed it home only to find that it had no forward/ backward cyclic at all!! I took it back to the model shop who confirmed the problem and said it wasn't repairable and they would just supply me with a replacement, which I've had to wait a week for as they were all out of stock!!

Now my new Lama arrives in stock I whisk it off home and for the first 5 mins it seems to fly fine but then (as I have heard from other posts) it wasn't long before the heli was back down again, it just seemed to self-destruct in flight!! But luckily I manage to land with no probs!!, the lower blades had had the tips ripped off some how (it looked as though they had hit the boom) so I replace the blades and tried another flight!!

Again 5 maybe 10 mins it does the same thing but this time it came down with an almighty crash and there were bits every where!!

This time I replace all 4 blades and the stabilizer bar (which flow off!!) I go to fly again and now there is a big problem with the rudder, it just wants to twist to the left, and there doesn't seem to be a happy place for the rudder trim as the rudder light will not go off, it goes straight from red to green and visa versa! There also seems to be a nasty grinding sound as you bring the rotor speed to a stop!!

I think that the stabilizer may be slightly bent (you can only notice it on a flat surface), the top blade needs tracking now and when the rotor is spinning the disk seems to sway from side to side!

I have read though the manual but don't really know which fault I should try and rectify 1st, should I try and track the blades or should I try and ascertain if the main mast is damaged before bothering to do that? and how will I know if the mast is not as it should be?

Could this problem have been avoided if the blades were properly tracked to start with?, I didn't bother to adjust as they seemed virtually ok and it seemed to fly fine and I have a bit of a phobia towards setting up heli's and have had previous heli's setup by professionals and I have just done the flying!!

If anyone has any advise at all it would be much appreciated!!, sorry to go on for so long!!

Thanks!!!

Making Mini Lama Skids

Could you please elaborate. I have not fabricated with CF before. Do you epoxy the CF rods together to create the skid assembly? Can you heat and bend them? Where does the fishing line come in - X bracing?

I have the same problem - broken skids. I made a new set from wood and epoxy. I now have the world's strongest skids, and the worlds heaviest mini lama! And boy is it "really fun" to fly now!!
