Here is what I did to balance the TX.

Wouldn't that put alot of stress on the tx attachment ?
What weight is the DX7 ?

Looks good but only for people that use a neckstrap. Anyone have a solution for the rest of us?

Learn to fly Mode 3, reverse channels 1 thru 4 and hold it upside down.

A little extreme, but would work. Perhaps lead tape (used to balance rackets and such)on the bottom of the radio.

2 + 2 = 5 for extremely large values of 2.

The DX6 was pretty easy to balance for a neckstrap as it had screws on each side of the power switch which were close to the CG so I removed 'em and replaced 'em with a wire looped over the power switch horizontally from one screw hole to the other -

The DX7 I may just have to break out a drill and make a hole below the power switch and loop a wire over the power switch vertically this time.

I'm sure it puts stress on the TX strap connection and would break if you were pressing down on the case while flying. The top nut is actually ridding on the case, which does take a lot of what ever stress it might be applying to the connection. This was a quick 10 minute fix, I'm sure there are several other ways of accomplishing the same end result. Just thought I would share this idea with everyone.

I would add weight vs. the eye bolt thingy

for the stress reasons..

I've been using that sort of hook all year on my 9303. It's ugly, but it works.

I'm always careful with my radio generally... so it's not a big deal to be careful about stressing the offset hook point. I've been using it like this for about a year without any trouble or breakage.

Use a tray. I've tried the neckstrap, but prefer a tray.

Since I prefer actually holding my trasmitter a tray would be worse than a neckstrap.

Certainly, but I use one of those small acrylic trays w/o any sides so it's small, light, and doesn't interfere with the operation of any of the switches.

If you're not using a strap/tray then the only option I see is to adjust the weight distribution to re-balance it. Of course, you don't want to add any unnecessary weight.

If you don't use a neck strap, then there is no need to balance the TX.

then there is no need to balance the TX

Let me tell you, as someone who was used to holding a Tx with a long antenna sticking out, the difference in balance is EXTREMELY apparent. Please don't dictate my needs.

Well, it might be still awkward to hold in your hands if the balance is off. You don't carry an 8' 2x4 only holding the first or last 1' do you?

Ace,

The only qualms I have with trays/neckstraps are their methods of attatchment, ie the strap around the neck or the harness over the shoulder. I've tried both and they're just too uncomfortable. For me, a balanced Tx would be ideal.

It's a personal preference thing. I like the locked in feel of the tray. It prevents the TX from moving fore/aft or left/right. I've been using a strap lately and trying to get used to it, but I know I'll go back to the tray.

Perhaps he has seen pictures of Curtis' transmitter. He does the same thing on his 10X.
