AH-1 pilot Key Veteran Location: Tampa, Florida
| Missed you guys at the field today......My gf and I had a relaxing day at SRW, clear blue skies. Wind was about 14 mph with some white caps, but slowly went down to about 10 steady. 44F but got up to 54F. I replaced the stiff collective servo last night with a new ACE 1213 and in the process discovered the two piece plastic casing, that protects the sensor on my GV1, was splitting. A piece of the plastic 'clip' on the housing was gone, so it wouldn't snap back into place. Two small zip ties held the case like new again. Also replaced some fuel lines and removed the horizontal stab two piece bracket, for a good cleaning with alcohol and reinstalled. The horizontal stab was starting to move on the tailboom from the oil that was in between the stab brackets and boom. The heli flew great today with the new collective servo. I also flew the upgraded Freya more today and dialed her in to peak performance. *The stiff collective servo on my Raptor, was only discovered on a post flight, it actually still flew fine and moved normally with control inputs...just felt really stiff when moved by hand with rec/radio off. I would come out again tomorrow, but need to give Norma a break...lol I have 8 thru 17 Jan off, so hope to see some of you guys at the field!
Later,
