| Happy Holidays!Hey guys, Winds were calm at the field today, temp got up to 50F and cloudy, didn't need the radio glove, but wore my Nike leather batting gloves with the heat pads. I flew my Freya with the Dino upgrades today. The engine is a factory rebuilt YS91ST4, with 0 time on it...so, after a good preflight, she fired up on the first try. A few clicks of trim and I flew some easy fig 8's in normal mode at a rich setting. On that last few minutes of the flight went into idle 1. I flew two tanks then went in a few clicks more on high and mid, flew easy, again, for two more tanks, then a few more clicks in on the high. The freya is a quiet bird and tracks like it's on rails! Piro's are a dream, crisp and efficient. The T/R servo is boom mounted, so, Last night I put some sho goo (like thick silicone) around the seam of the t/r servo and the wire that comes out of the servo case. I put a bead of the silicone on one of my R90SE's T/R servos also, a few weeks ago...seems to work like a champ! I also flew the Raptor with the new clutch liner and clutch, worked perfectly. Last time I flew Raptor #2, the engine was surging in a hover and blade speed was slow. After I dropped the engine out, I discovered the liner was thin, the gap between liner and clutch was too large...so it wasn't able to get a good bite into the clutch liner. I decided to buy a clutch bell, with liner installed already, and also a new clutch..micro cracks can develope in the clutch shoes, from spreading to far open, so, for peace of mind, replaced the clutch as well. Today, I flew The Raptor, with the new clutch in each idle up mode...NO more engine surges, it was spot on. The 90SE flew with authority, ready for serious business!
Dino, thanks for your work on my Freya..the upgrades are sweet! Radio program/setups/idle ups, worked perfectly!
Guys, I asked one of the parks employees, that lock up at night, if they could pick up the bags of trash for our club, they have been out there for some time...don't want some dog to bust them open. He said it would be gone soon.
Hope to see you at the field!
