| If you had been there, there would be quite a bit of dought about Curtis winning this one. He only won the prelims by about twelve out of a thousand nomalized points. He tied for the first round in the finals, and he had a serious problem with his Vigor. In the second round, he only came in seventh place, Dobashi put in a flight in the second round that had seen to be believed, he was around eighty points ahead of Curtis on that flight and definitly won the round. The last round on Saturday, Curtis came in third behind two of the Japanese, but Dave, his dad, ran a spread sheet with all the scores to that point and it came out that Curtis had won by ONE normalized point. The spread sheet indicated that the higher everyone placed in the remainder of the last round, the higer the spread would be. The Japanese team came up and congratulated him right after that, so they were probably doing the same thing. In the end, Curtis won by THREE normalized points. Three out of a thousand!. That is extremly close, if he hadn't won the prelims, the Japanese would have the trophy. The Japanese had a very strong team, and like Curtis, they are to be congratulated for their effort. Everyone breathed a sigh of relief when it was over. We have the title again, but no one can be certain of what the results will be when other countries send teams that are that strong. There was simply no dominant helicopter nor pilot at the Worlds. |
