Very nice work they look great. Are the JMD bodies clear lexan that you can paint from the inside? I've had little problems with mine the tail has blown out twice. I can't figure out what is going on all of a sudden the tail will rotate and take out the gears. Just this morning I finished rebuilding it and I pinned the tail case to the boom and replaced one of the tail grip bearings that was bad. I don't know if it was the cause or happened the last time it happened. Since I posted the heli I have installed lights, flashing red on top and a white in the front.

What brand of paint did you used on the MD500? I've try using krylon but the result wasn't shiny, the fuselage is made of white plastic from hobbyP.

I used Createx from my local hobby store, its water base just like Faskolor for lexan but was told this is basically car paint. I first used a base coat sealer then Createx color and then the clear coat all water base using my airbrush. The nice thing about this paint is you can use a lacquer clear coat if you want to make it fuel proof. I was told this is the paint guys are using on there nitro heli canopies. The base coat they sell is Auto-Air Colors Series 4000 it was $6 for 4oz and the colors were $3 for 2oz and it goes a long way. I hope this helps if you have any other questions just PM me.

Thanks, I will try to do another md500. Great paint job you got there. BTW, how did you line up the landing gear? I ended up cutting up bad the bottom of the fuselage trying to make it fit.

First I used the hole locations or the dimples on the fuselage and drill a 1/8" hole just big enuff for the fiberglass rods. I put them in the wood blocks and then started to oval the holes out until they fit into the landing gear. If you look at the fiberglass rods I covered them with oval shaped aluminum stock that you can get at your LHS it is a little small but it is workable so you can expand it to fit over the rod. Then you can open the holes up so the rod with the aluminum cover fit or come pretty close. The MD500 has airfoil shaped landing struts and if you polish them they look pretty good and give a more scale look. I epoxy the fiberglass rod and aluminum struts to the landing gear while they were in the wood block but not to the wood. Because of the angle they stay in pretty tight and can be removed if you have to service the heli. Hope this helps, if you have anymore questions just ask and I will try to help. The aluminum exhaust I fabricated out of 1"aluminum tubing.

All of JMD models bodies are clear plastic. I usually paint the bodies from the outside due to that there is a seam that runs through the middle that you fill in and prime. Also if you install and take out the body alot you can scratch the paint from the inside and then you can't fix it. The shiny coat on the outside of the heli is clear automotive urethane from the local body shop.
