Just wondering if any one has tried to put an O.S. 50 on an ergo while using a K&S aluminum fan. i tried and it puts my engine mount holes a few mm's too low? don't really want to slot the the holes in the frame, doing so would cause the lower holes to cut into the bottom "L" reinforcement. any ideas?

Flip engine mount?

Have you tried turning the mount over to see if it would line up? The holes are offset. I don't know if this helps. Just a suggestion.

Did you shorten the crankshaft?

The Ergo requires the engine crankshaft to be cut of ( about 4 threads)

i did turn the mount over, but that made it worse as the holes were further away. i was hoping not to cut the crank on my new .50 i did that to my .46. just in case i want to use the .50 on something else. is the crank hitting the start shaft? probably. thanks guys

you must cut the crank, its unavoidable.

Yeah there is no choice but to cut the shaft on the OS 50. I had considered making a custom motor mount and a longer prop washer to avoid having to cut the shaft but it was more work than it was worth. Just measure twice, mark the shaft and close your eyes when cutting the shaft. It hurts less if you don't watch. HEHE

I converted my ergo 30 to an ergo 50 (type 1) a
couple of years ago. I had heard that I would
need to shorten the crankshaft, but I didn't need
to. I'm not sure why some people do.
I have heard that engines ship with different
length crankshafts in europe, maybe that
is the case in the US also. I'm in Australia BTW.

I did the same conversion. OS30 to OS50. I did not have to cut the crank shaft. I changed the engine mount meant for the OS46. Works great. I also used the K&S metal fan. The one with one piece fan and fan hub. works great too.
