Are you talking about a C40 8 L motor ? if so you can get one at www.helihobby.com I usually don't use them but for just a motor purchase you should be fine .

Were you able to get close to witch battery will give you the RPM's that you are looking for ? This isn't the professional way to do it with all the math and calculations but it is how I cheat to get close . Let me know how you made out .

With the C40-8L and a 17t pinion, the generally accepted "best" battery will be a 3s3p in the 6000mah range (assuming you want LiPO). That will put your headspeed under load at around 1900 rpms (time to ditch the stock woodies ).

Some folks are using going with a smaller mah rating (around 4000) but that will restrict your flight time a bit. The VE flys nicely on the 6000mah pack while still giving you suitable duration.

Those are the packs I was talking about. LiPO isn't cheap, although you may be able to find something similar from a different mfg. that will work equally well. I also found this on the Thunder Power site today...

Thunder Pwer Extreme Series
5000 mAh, 3 cells (11.1V), 4-pin balancer connector
Rating: 22C (110A) continuous, 30C (150A) sustain, 50C (250A) burst Dimension: 25mm x48mm x160mm Weight: 388gm

Slightly less capacity but a MUCH higher C rating, plus they are $30 usd (15 or so GBP) less expensive than the 6000mah pack
