HIROBO X-spec - Freya - Sceadu - Shuttle > Freya upgrades.....

I almost crashed last weekend due to a stripped out screw in the washout. I installed the all metal Eagle washout and base this morning and it made the cyclic control much tighter. My forward flight and turns improved immensly. For $40, it was a very worthwhile investment. I just wanted to share this with other Freya owners that my have some slop in the cyclic controls.

Another Worthwile Upgrade!

Here are some parts that are almost a NEEDED upgrade for the freya..

E.X. washout hub and guide pin set. (Part # 0404-730 and 0404-731)

You will need little set screws also (part #2531-001).

for all the guys flying freyas and constantly checking and tightening the washout pin guides this will fix it 100%...
I ordered my set from Ron Lund's.. and I also ordered the 3rd bearing for the bottom of the mainshaft... not much $$ don't know if it will help my crappy flying but we will see!

Not bad

Prices seem great.. but I'm trying to keep my upgrades down to a minimum... next thing you know you'll have a shinny shuttle like freya..
which is not what I need... just wanted to make sure that the washout pins don't move.. but I'm sure those upgrades will not hurt your performance either!!!!

The reason

After 80 flights on my Freya the washout slider developed slop. Also the washout arms have play in between the bearing and molded arm. The swash is also becoming a little loose. I was considering just replacing the items but decided to try out the EX parts instead. Heck they are standard on Todd Bennetts. Finally I wanted to add the infamous 3d bearing block.

No this Freya is NOTHING like my Shuttle SXX as far as "needing" upgrades. For now after the wear has taken it's toll this is good.

Hey Volkul...I had the same problem with the arms on mine. I added a very thin washeron the outside of the bearing and the slop is now gone. The slop developed in the bearing/allen screw on mine.

Holy Crap! What a difference!!!

After reading thru this post over and over, I finally took the plunge and bought the EX Radius Block (404-730) and Slider Block (404-731).

After over 100 flights on the Freya I was feeling that it wasn't tracking as straight as it used to be, my loops required lots of correction on the Aileron to ensure my entry was the same as my exit as well lots of trimming on the different flight modes.

Most of the slop is gone except for the swashplate which seems to be normal for the kind of wear and tear I have on my machine. I inspected the worn out parts and there's lots of play in the slider where the radius block pins go in.

I must stress that the stock parts are fine and I think it's best to change to the EX parts ONLY and ONLY when you have worn out the stock parts.

I can't wait to get to the field to take her out.

Thanks very much to everyone for this thread!
