I've researched the same thing about the Orbit. Very nice motors yeilding good performance with the Logo 10 3D. I considered that motor but couldn't get my hands on one easily here in the States so I went with the domestic hot motor from Steve Neu.

Yes, 20-10 is 1130 rpm/v, the 20-12 is 950. Plattenburg recommend you use the 20-10 with no more than 5s but it seems to work fine on 6s.

Hi Swashplate, looks good

Which motor/ESC/LiPo pack/pinion did you go for in the end? Looks like the Orbit 20-10 motor but not sure.

thanks Lorents.
Dr. Lodge: it is indeed the Orbit 20-10 on Jazz 80-6-18. I have 2 TP4s4p 8000mAh lipos at the moment. On your recommendation I opted for the PCM rx (138dp).
I think i'm using a 21T pinion. (it came with the motor when i bought it from the previous owner).

I have to add, the quality of the kit is amazing. The only problem i had was to find a way to mount the ESC. (I will eventually get the ESC mount)

Any news on the maiden?

I maidened mine after Christmas but the weather was still a bit sour so I was limited to hovering in a tennis court. So far, everything works great. This heli is very stable yet very responsive. I cant wait to do some forward flight today at lunch.

Have one,Loved it from first flight! Bench trim'd,took it outside, powered it up,a little left stick she pop'd into the sweetest hover,a couple clicks trim... The rest is "X"rated.

Havent had a chance yet. I've been waiting for my charger to come. Now the weather doesnt seem to be any encouraging. I should hopefully maiden it on new year's day.

i hope it goes as good as you Pyrock and Prof Fate. I would be doubly happy if its X-Rated

Hey Pyrock, did you fly with the green paddles?

I did some forward flight today and it was rock solid. I have never used the green paddles. I flew it with the light 3D paddles and it was as responsive as my Trex SE. I think I will stick with it. I also had to use the inner-most hole on the tail servo horn to eliminate tail wag at punch out. Now there is no wag and it is very stable. Now I see what all the hoolabaloo is about Logo helis...Rock Steady and VERY SMOOTH. I have nothing to compare it with but I've seen Trex 600's and other nitro birds fly and some are choppy. I am not that great of a pilot yet the I fly the Logo 10 rock steady and smooth. It makes me look like a great pilot.

hello again,
I got to setup my Jazz a couple of days back (The weather has been & is pathetic). I am currently running 500mm woodies.

What headspeed can i expect with my setup (Orbit 20/10 on 21T, 4s)? When i setup my Jazz, my tach wasnt working properly and the headspeed seemed low. Could someone suggest an optimum pinion for my setup.

Also, can i run a 530mm blades on stock setup?

thanks again.

I think i found answers to my 2 Q's

530mm blades - too much to ask for on stock boom.
The headspeed seems reasonable but can do better by stepping up a tooth or 2. It shouldn't hurt the lipos/esc/motor, would it?

Hi
I hovered the logo today to break in my lipos. My tail was intermittently jerking. I checked the whole setup over but couldnt find anything wrong mechanically

Can mounting the gyro close to servo cause this even with a PCM rx? What would you suggest i move, the servo or the gyro?

Sounds like it could be static from the tail belt.

What do you use to power the receiver/gyro/servos?
I'm hunting a similar problem right now in my L10 with a SL420 gyro and 9254 tail servo.

TOSH, thanks I will try re-routing the antenna.
IQ, my setup is csm 560/9254. rx Futaba 138DP and my ESC is Jazz 80-6-18 and the BEC powers my rx. (its rated 4amps, so didnt bother with another battery or another BEC).

I had read somewhere that it is good to have gyro and servo apart, WD40 the belt and see how it goes!

Update on my L10 tail instability problem.

I had a total tail lock up, with the heli pirouetting and crashed. My L10 setup was all digital servos, 3X 9650 and 1X 9254, SCM SL420 gyro, Kontronik BEC-30 for power. Post inspecting, testing and metering revealed that when the gyro gives sudden commands to the tail servo (9254) the voltage drops immediately from 5.6V to less than 4.8V !!! That is a huge drop of 0.8V and the cause to corruption of the signal in the receiver. I tested it with a receiver pack and the tail is solid.
If in your case the WD40 on belt and the rerouting of antenna doesn’t help, try a receiver pack.

At first I used a Rx batt pack. I now have a UBEC 5V in its place. I have the ball link on the TR servo(401/9254)in the second hole in a cross style horn. The tail is rock steady.
