in ground effec Heliman Location:
| why?As a Navy heli pilot and a r/c heli buff/owner. It boggles my mind with the whole stop the main blades thing. When i land my HH-60H SEAHAWK that the Navy lets me fly the futherest thing from my mind is stopping the main blades. 1) It's dangerous and i could lose my hand. 2) There would be jokes about me till the end of time.3) Number two bugs me more than number1. Even on my own r/c helis which include a nexus 30 with the 46 upgrade and a Len Mount large scale "Huey" UH-1C turbine copter. After i land i smoke one for getting it back on the ground in one piece. Second i like to look at everyone looking at me wondering when im going to go get it off the field! I go when the blades wind down on there own far from me were this kind of thing will not happen to me. If im in a big hurry i put a little negative collective and when they start to slow i put full negative they stop on there own and i was taught this iin flight training in the Navy decades ago, its called fast exit. And i do not wear a neck strap anymore. That full story is posted on chased by your own helicopter. Be safe! Pay attention at all times! Be alert to your sourroundings! I WANT TO FLY AGAINST YOU ONE DAY! |
